Part of his charm is his dedication to the role. [via ContactMusic] In his latest film "The Wrestler," he deliberately cut himself with a blade during a fight scene. He did this by tapping a razor blade to his wrist and sliced his face as the cameras rolled, to make his part more realistic. His co-star Wass Stevens tells the New York Daily News that Rourke took the drastic action after hearing how real-life fighters sometimes faked injury - to the delight of fans watching. Members CACO/CAMPOS Posted October 13, 2008 Members Report Share Posted October 13, 2008 Mickey Rourke mutilou-se de propósito nas filmagens de The Wrestler Ator queria aumentar o impacto das cenas de luta Durante uma entrevista de divulgação de The Wrestler, novo filme de Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiém Para um Sonho, Fonte da Vida), foi revelado um momento um tanto chocante das filmagens envolvendo Mickey Rourke. O ator, cuja interpretação no drama foi elogiadíssima, cortou o próprio rosto com uma lâmina que tinha escondida na roupa durante uma das cenas de luta . Seu objetivo era aumentar o impacto da cena. A idéia, segundo Wass Stevens, que contracenou com ele, veio quando Rourke pesquisava sobre luta-livre e descobriu que alguns lutadores fazem isso para aumentar a carga dramática do confronto. Não ficou claro se Aronofsky sabia disso. Infelizmente, ainda não há qualquer previsão de estréia do filme por aqui. O filme se baseia no livro que Robert Siegel escreveu sobre Randy "The Ram" Robinson, astro da luta-livre nos anos 80. Depois de ter um infarto em uma luta, Robinson (interpretação elogiadíssima de Mickey Rourke) fica sabendo que pode morrer se lutar novamente. A partir daí, ele tenta arrumar um emprego em uma loja e se enturmar com o filho da stripper (Marisa Tomei) com quem está morando. [via /Film] The movie centers on Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Rourke), a 1980s-era star pro wrestler who has become a burnt-out shell of his former self. After he has a heart attack during a small-time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights again. But the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis the Ayatollah proves too tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life. In addition to Rourke, the film also stars Marissa Tomei, who will play a stripper living with Rourke, who moves in after his heart attack to build a relationship with Tomei's son. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) and is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19th. Nesta cena, ele depila suas axilas com uma gilete e uma touquinha na cabeça na pele de Randy Robinson, um ex-campeão de luta livre que se nega a aceitar que chegou a hora de se aposentar. Agradável surpresa, pois esperav algo mais radical de Aronofsky. Rourke vai pro Oscar, com certeza. Já conto os dias para sair em BD, porque esse tipo de lançamento não passa onde moro. Members -felipe- Posted December 14, 2008 Author Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2008 Wrestler Director Sacrificed Budget To Cast Rourke 14 December 2008 2:58 PM, PST The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky was so desperate to cast Mickey Rourke as retired grappler Randy 'The Ram' Robinson, he dropped Nicolas Cage from the film and sacrificed a huge chunk of his budget. dropped Nicolas Cage Aronofsky had Rourke in mind when he took on the project, but financiers were reluctant to fund the film with the once-troubled star in the lead role, and forced the director to replace him with Cage. But Aronofsky was unhappy with the switch, and decided to go ahead and make the movie with Rourke, and a much smaller $6 million (GBP4 million) budget. He reveals, "When I did replace Mickey for a little bit, I literally couldn't sleep at night. "I was like an insane person. I would walk up to strangers on the street and ask them what they thought of Mickey Rourke. He was haunting me. He was meant to do it." He adds, "(Cage was) a complete gentleman, and he understood that my heart was with Mickey and he stepped aside. I have so much respect for Nic Cage as an actor and I think it really could have worked with Nic but. you know, Nic was incredibly supportive of Mickey and he is old friends with Mickey and really wanted to help with this opportunity, so he pulled himself out of the race."
