Rounding out the composite list of the top 10 films of the year were THE ARTIST (2), EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE (3), MIDNIGHT IN PARIS (4), THE TREE OF LIFE (5), HUGO (6), 50/50 (7), DRIVE (8), SHAME (9) and MONEYBALL (10). For Best Actor, the association named George Clooney for THE DESCENDANTS. Runners-up included Jean Dujardin for THE ARTIST (2), Michael Fassbender for SHAME (3), Brad Pitt for MONEYBALL (4) and Michael Shannon for TAKE SHELTER (5). Michelle Williams was voted Best Actress for MY WEEK WITH MARILYN. Next in the voting were Tilda Swinton for WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN (2), Meryl Streep for THE IRON LADY (3), Charlize Theron for YOUNG ADULT (4) and Kirsten Dunst for MELANCHOLIA (5). In the Best Supporting Actor category, the winner was Christopher Plummer for BEGINNERS. He was followed by Albert Brooks for DRIVE (2), Max von Sydow for EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE (3), Armie Hammer for J. EDGAR (4) and Kenneth Branagh for MY WEEK WITH MARILYN (5). RANGO was named the best animated film of 2011, with THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN as runner-up. Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash won the Best Screenplay award for THE DESCENDANTS over Woody Allen for MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. The award for Best Cinematography went to Emmanuel Lubezki for THE TREE OF LIFE, followed by Janusz Kaminski for WAR HORSE. The association voted WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN as the winner of the Russell Smith Award, named for the late Dallas Morning News film critic. The honor is given annually to the best low-budget or cutting-edge independent film.

Indo um pouco também para o lado da estatística: Considerando os últimos três anos das três premiações televisionadas norte-americanas pré-Oscar (Critics' Choice, Globo de Ouro e SAG): Todos os atores e atrizes que receberam a indicação tripla (42) foram indicados pela Academia, com uma única exceção: Mila Kunis (então ficamos com 41). Dos 19 restantes, 15 foram indicados a 2 dos 3 prêmios. Os 4 restantes são John Hawkes (apenas SAG) e os "nomes-surpresas" de seus respectivos anos: Javier Bardem, Maggie Gyllenhaal e Michael Shannon, que não foram lembrados em nenhum precursor.   11. Pois é... Só ontem e hoje foram 9 associações lançando indicados ou vencedores. O que tenho notado a partir desses prêmios: - Há um grande amor pelos indies Drive, Win Win e Take Shelter. Estou começando a acreditar que o primeiro pode ter uma boa chance em Melhor Filme. Por outro lado, me surpreende a falta de menções a Shame. - Ator Coadjuvante está ainda muito aberta, tanto que cada círculo crítico surge com 1, 2 ou 3 nomes novos - o que deixa a corrida mais interessante. Plummer e Brooks são locks. - Atriz Coadjuvante parece um rodízio. Os mesmos nomes (Spencer, Woodley, Mulligan, Bejo, Chastain, Redgrave, McTeer), combinados diferentemente em cada lista. Como o Sync já disse, os próximos três dias serão decisivos. Especialmente para algumas pessoas, como Glenn Close, Tilda Swinton e Gary Oldman. Uma curiosidade: Em todas as vezes que o NYFCC e o LAFCA premiaram a mesma Atriz Coadjuvante (e foram 12 vezes), a tal foi indicada ao Oscar. Por que Chastain, que está tendo um ano colossal, seria a primeira exceção? A questão é: The Help, The Tree of Life ou Take Shelter?   20. Eu gostei, ainda que moderadamente, de Albert Nobbs. O roteiro é falho em muitos pontos, principalmente no que tange ao desenvolvimento dos personagens de Wasikowska e Johnson, mas a direção é eficiente, evocando uma clima estranho que é ideal para a evolução dos intrigantes Albert e Hubert Page (Janet McTeer). As performances de Close e McTeer, uma como o contraponto da outra, são extraordinárias. A primeira mostra que realmente tem muita familiaridade com o personagem, e seu trabalho é tão sutil que através de expressões, olhares e nuances vocais mínimas podemos captar os aspectos da personalidade de Albert. E é fascinante ver como Close consegue combinar frieza e humanidade naquele estranho homenzinho. Já sua colega impressiona pela veracidade e naturalidade com que retrata seu não menos excêntrico personagem, usando de uma sagacidade cênica que a mantém sempre no tom perfeito. Acho muito difícil que Glenn não seja indicada; é uma performance notável. Aliás, torço para nomeação dupla: em Atriz e Canção Original, que é belíssima. Quanto a McTeer, me parece o tipo de performance que é premiada por associações de críticos - quem sabe se nas próximas semanas ela não desponta como uma das favoritas?Oberon2011-12-07 11:19:03

A propósito, ELaIC e TGwtDT são os filmes sem praticamente feedback algum até agora - o que acabará logo. Eu estava pensando se existe a possibilidade de emergir algum ator ou atriz que não está sendo considerado.   24. As grandes forças deste início de temporada são mesmo Hugo e Tilda Swinton. O filme de Scorsese provavelmente conseguirá uma indicação a Melhor Filme, além de várias categorias técnicas, e Swinton solidificou suas chances, disputando com Charlize Theron e Rooney Mara a vaga remanescente. Interessantes as menções a Michael Shannon, John Hawkes, Andy Serkis e Melissa McCarthy. Eu já imaginava que Elizabeth Olsen pudesse ser "reavivada" pelas associações de críticos; acho que num ano mais fraco ela facilmente preencheria a vaga Lawrence-Sidibe-Page-etc.
