[Oscar 2018: Previsões]

Martin McDonagh foi o excluído da vez da lista do DGA. Considerou a Academia que "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" é um filme de roteiro. Isso realmente é muito ruim para as pretensões do filme. "The Shape of Water" se tornou bem forte agora. 

Surpreso a mais não poder com o Paul Thomas Anderson em Direção. Roteiro, pelo qual ele costuma entrar, era até factível. Mas Direção foi um arraso. Quebou o bolão de todo mundo.

Parabéns, como em todo ano, ao Nathaniel Rogers que previu Lesley Manville roubando a vaga da Holly Hunter.

"Logan", pra mim, um filme extraordinário, entrou em Roteiro Adaptado. Primeiro filme de super-herói a conseguir tal feito. Mas devo dizer que preferia "Blade Runner 2049" aqui.

"Jane", vencedor do DGA, fora dos Documentários é chocante!

Filme Estrangeiro: o vencedor do Globo de Ourto, mais uma vez, fora.

"Call me By Your Name" sub-representado. Culpa, ao final das contas, do merda do Kevin Spacey.

Felizão pela Mary J. Blige, pela Agnès Varda, e pelas indicações merecidísimas ao ótimo "Baby Driver".

Diane Warren, nona indicação em Canção. Eu, burro, a coloquei pelo filme errado.

Ano mais difícil de prever. Muitas dúvidas, e infelizmente as decisões tomadas a respeito são todas contra o meu gosto pessoal. Lembro que dizia que o Woody Harrelson iria ser indicado e possivelmente ganhar o Oscar (só errei de filme, detalhe!),e vê-lo agora tomar a vaga do Michael Stuhlbarg realmente  soa irônico. Tomara que eu esteja errado amanhã. Vejo - não só eu - uma ascensão de "I, Tonya" em muitas categorias, mas não a ponto de chegar na bagunça supercompetitiva que se tornaram Roteiro Original, Figurino, e Montagem. Quem falar que sabe os cinco indicados dessas categorias está mentindo. Amo a categoria de Figurino, mas, ano após ano, é a que mais erro. Dado o desprestígio de "Victoria & Abdul" (Judi Dench foi excluída do BAFTA!) nas premiações anteriores, eliminei o filme em Trilha (Thomas Newman! Ai...) e Figurino (Consolata Boyle). Mas tá foda de arranjar espaço para os dois. Em Canção, não vou com nenhuma de "Beauty and the Beast". As cinco que eu coloquei simplesmente são melhores do que "Evermore". Não tenho a menor ideia de quem vai vencer Filme Estrangeiro. Pode dar qualquer um, na verdade. Coloquei "The Post" em Mixagem de Som baseado apenas no currículo das pessoas. É tão errado, mas...Vai ser assim mesmo. Muito triste por não colocar "Call me By Your Name" em Fotografia, mas preferi seguir a lista fechada do sindicato. Favorito agora "The Shape of Water" em Trilha e Desenho de Produção depois de ver o filme (sorry, Dennis Gassner). Em Direção, fechei com o DGA, embora quase nunca o sindicato acerte todos. Não sobrou mais espaço para "The Florida Project", que adorei,é pena. Nove filmes, ao final! Um ano sem obras-primas, na verdade. Por obra-prima, aquilo que transcenderá os anos, aquilo que racha o chão. E até agora, apenas um filme excelente, que falou alto ao meu coração.

Vou colocar "The Post" em Mixagem de Som, pois aprendi a nunca menosprezar Gary Rydstrom e suas ridículas 7! estatuetas na categoria, e sei lá quantas indicações...A pessoa faz simplesmente o som de  "Jurassic Park" e de "Titanic", né, minha gente? Tem quer reverenciada até o fim da existência da Terra. O filme não tem um tiro, mas...É Gary Rydstrom e Andy Nelson...

Algumas pessoas apontam que "The Shape of Water" pode não entrar em Efeitos Visuais, repetindo o fenômeno que aconteceu com "Arrival" que foi indicado a quase tudo, menos isso. Mas da lista do Sindicato...entraria o quê? "Alien: Covenant"? Um filme terrível, mas a série "Alien" quase sempre emplaca uma indicação.

Vamos nos atentar para o nome de Claire Simpson, montadora oscarizada por "Platoon", que teve de montar e remontar "All the Money in the World". Todo mundo nesse filme tem que ser elogiado.

"The Greatest Showman"  está indo muito bem de bilheteria, e muita gente está cogitando uma vaguinha em Figurino para a nunca indicada Ellen Mirojnick (que recentemente foi premiada pela carreira). Bilheteria boa faz milagres, mas é bom lembrar que os figurinistas têm um modo muito próprio de pensar, só premiam quem eles realmente amam...É sempre muito difícil prever o que virá dali.A lembrar a bizarrice que ocorreu em 2017, quebrando o bolão de todo mundo.

Big One, terminei a leitura. Cara, me surpreendeu. Achei extraordinário! Muito melhor do que pensava!

Passei a admirar mais o Ridley Scott por que ele ele pegou um fiapo da história mas manteve a essência e o clima do livro. Parabéns também ao Villeneuve por inserir tão bem os cavalos de madeira em seu filme.

Philip k. Dick morrer pouco antes da estreia parece ficção científica.

Arrumando várias tretas em nome de "Call me By Your Name".

É impressionante o quanto as pessoas não suportam mais um filme de pouco mais de duas horas. Tudo "é lento", "é arrastado", "demora", "podia ter 40 minutos a menos".  Isso vindo de gente que supostamente gosta de cinema. Nunca hão de ver um filme do Visconti na vida! Bergman? Tarkovsky? Pfff

E aquela gente insuportável do PT, angustiados com o 24/01, problematizando a "elitização branca gay"? Deve dar dor nas costas carregar tanta opressão.

E os bolsomitos reclamando da questão etária? Deve dar dor nas costas carregar tanto livro sagrado na mochila.

Socorro!

 

 

[Oscar 2018: Previsões]

Gostei muito de "Mudbound".

Um tanto quanto literário, mas mesmo assim é uma produção de qualidade. Espero que seja indicado em Fotografia, não para quebrar o tabu de ser a primeira mulher (Rachel Morrison), mas é que a fotografia é mesmo a melhor coisa do filme. Como negativo, eu teria eliminado todas as cenas de batalha aérea - pois, inclusive, fogem do cenário de "fronteira de lama".

Linda a atuação da Mary J. Blige, muito contida e delicada! Além de cantar muito, sabe atuar. Assegurou a vaga dela. Carey Mulligan, ótima no papel, passou despercebida a temporada toda. Vai entender...

Vejo o filme indicado ainda na esvaziada categoria de Roteiro Adaptado.

"Mudbound" originalmente é cinema, mas foi comprado pela Netflix ($17 milhões, salvo engano), por que senão não haveria distribuidor. Contudo, em muitos casos, não sabemos dizer se é tevê, se é cinema - um assunto mal resolvido em termos de premiação. Por enquanto, na minha cabeça, penso que se for lançado só em Streaming, deveria concorrer ao Emmy, não ao Oscar. Mas, por conclusão, penso que há claramente um vazio de regra. Hora dos atores do jogo chegarem a definições melhores.

"Ferdinand": desenho de antigamente. No mau sentido.

Cansado de animações desse estilo. Sempre, sempre, sempre, a mesma macro-história. Pode ser com touro, com arara, com robô, repete-se a fórmula bovina de heroismo + coadjuvante cômico + família idealizada.

Carlos Saldanha, possívelmente, será o primeiro brasileiro a ter duas indicações ao Oscar.

Infelizmente, não dá pra torcer.
