De acordo com o Inside Movies, o Hollywood Reporter divulgou e eles confirmaram que a Sony está desenvolvendo um filme baseado na série de TV animada Capitão Planeta. Aparentemente, a ideia é filmar um blockbuster "hilariamente caro" para tentar começar uma franquia. Na série, cinco adolescentes ganham anéis que dão a eles poder sobre os "cinco" elementos (o quinto era o coração, hahaha). Quando uniam seus poderes, podiam invocar o herói do título. EW has confirmed the news, initially reported by the Hollywood Reporter, that Sony is working on a film version of the cartoon, which starred five kids with magic elemental powers, a monkey, and a superhero whose only weakness was garbage. Mark Gordon, Don Murphy, and Susan Montford are slated as producers on the film — Montford and Murphy previously had a deal to turn Planet into a Cartoon Network movie, before Cartoon Network adopted a new pro-pollution policy and/or came to their senses. All kidding aside, the mythology of Captain Planet actually has some potential. The five leads have rings which give them power over the elements: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire…and also Heart, because love is the fifth element or whatever. And as goofy as the show was, the rogues’ gallery was stacked with some of the best villain names this side of Gotham City: Half-rat Verminous Skumm, piglike Hoggish Greedly, mad lady scientist Dr. Barbara Blight. (Fun fact: Those characters were originally voiced by Jeff Goldblum, Ed Asner, and Meg Ryan, respectively.) Maybe the film could age up the leads into adulthood and tell a gritty, depressing story about global warming. Cinema Sam Raimi pode ser o diretor de World of Warcraft Segundo AICN, anúncio oficial sai nos próximos dias 22/07/2009 Não é a primeira vez que se menciona World of Warcraft e Sam Raimi numa mesma frase. No ano passado, o cineasta falava empolgado de adaptações de games ao cinema. Agora o flerte ficou sério. O site AICN diz que Raimi dirigirá o longa-metragem do mais bem-sucedido RPG online para multidões da história. Não há ainda nada oficial. O site diz que vem apurando a informação há três semanas e que o anúncio sairá no final desta semana ou no começo da próxima. A produtora de games Blizzard, dona do MMORPG, produz o longa em parceria com a Legendary Pictures, dos filmes de Batman e Superman. A ideia, até o momento, é fazer um filme em live-action de grande orçamento para um público a partir dos 13 anos (nada de censura alta, portanto), ambientado um ano antes dos eventos relatados no RPG online, sob o ponto de vista da Aliança. Certamente toda a imensidão de humanos, elfos, anões, gnomos, orcs, mortos-vivos, trolls e tauren de WoW é atraente, mas Raimi está comprometido também com o quarto Homem-Aranha. Já houve vários comentários sobre a obra do Brooks espalhados pelo fórum, então achei por bem abrir um tópico pra obra literária dele. Pra quem não associa o nome à pessoa, ele é o autor de O Guia de Sobrevivência a Zumbis: Proteção Total Contra os Mortos-Vivos, O Guia de Sobrevivência a Zumbis: Ataques Registrados e Guerra Mundial Z (todos disponíveis no Brasil, pelo que eu sei). Este último está sendo adaptado para o cinema. Espero que Guerra Mundial Z seja mais consistente. O Guia é classificado formalmente como um livro de humor (pelo menos a edição que eu baixei dizia isso), mas não entendo pq. Não tem nada que levemente pareça tentativa de fazer humor ou ser engraçado. Tb não funciona como livro de terror, uma vez que é hipotético em quase toda a sua duração, e quando conta "fatos reais" para ilustrar suas observações, não consegue desenvolver uma narrativa que crie tensão. O problema principal é que tb não funciona como manual. Exagera nas tentativas de engrandecer cada conselho, chegando a ser imbecil em alguns momentos, e teve o azar de ser lançado pouco antes de o Youtube ser lançado (sem contar o crescimento absurdo da wikipedia e do acesso à internet em geral que ocorreu nos anos seguintes a 2003). Hoje, imagino que muita gente já assistiu, por exemplo, a vídeos com pessoas testando silenciadores, que não são nem de longe a caixa mágica que Brooks descreve em seu livro. A maioria das desculpas pelas quais a existência de zumbis não é amplamente reconhecida são clichês sem inspiração. No fim, resta pouco a apreciar, mesmo para quem é fã de zumbis.
