Oscar 2021: Previsões

Que filme fraco! "Supernova"/ "Memórias de um Amor" é um filme que se fosse uma pessoa seria aquela pessoa educada, calma, introvertida, que fala baixo, que nunca comete uma indelicadeza, mas como filme todas essas características revelam uma tremenda falta de ação, ação dramatúrgica.

Colin Firth e Stanley Tucci interpretam um casal que passa apuros com a demência precoce de um deles. Uma demência que é, em termos de imagens, "falada", não há nenhuma cena mais simbólica de que algo grave está passando. A gravidade vem por meio das palavras.

A crítica Bárbara Heliodora ensinava que teatro é basicamente "Texto + Ação" . Ou seja, em termos amplos, alguma coisa precisa acontecer. Não basta boa intenção, não basta atuação boa, não basta diálogos ternos, não basta. Transferindo para o mundo do cinema, acho que é possível entender o roteiro de forma semelhante. Alguma coisa precisa acontecer.

Os dois atores estão bem, como era de se esperar, mas muito respeitosos...Pensar no Stanley Tucci indicado ao Oscar por este papel, como tentou-se, é, como os jovens falam, "Aqui tem uma barra, e você está forçando ela". Não tem nada de mais na atuação dele. Pra mim, a melhor atuação dele continua sendo a de "O Diabo Veste Prada".

Pra piorar, esse título estelar tem a ver com aquela informação batida de que somos, como humanos, produtos das estrelas, enquanto origem de átomos. Isso rende uma cena de ensinamento astronômico, como se essa fosse a maior novidade de todos os tempos. E a cena final é a confirmação dessa obviedade vezes mil.

Pior filme do ano!!!!

A bomba do ano, o "Cats" do ano, "Music", dirigido pela cantora Sia, é um desastre, embora indicado a dois Globos de Ouro - vai saber por quê. A personagem autista, em uma forma severa, reforça estereótipos e esvazia a mensagem social. A diretora e os artistas já até pediram desculpas para os eventuais ofendidos.

Em termos de cinema, a montagem intercala na narrativa diversos videoclipes, meio parecidos com os que a cantora apresenta em sua carreira, cheios daquelas expressões facias, e expressões corporais, de gosto duvidoso. Ver Kate Hudson, ou Leslie Odom Jr. fazendo aquelas caras e bocas infantilóides é de lascar. Mas não é apenas a coreografia meio boba, o figurino e os cenários são terríveis. Há um deles, simulando uma piscina de plástico vermelho, com nado artítisco, que foi de doer. 

A história da meia-irmã envolvida com drogas que de uma hora para outra vira guardiã da irmã desejava ser uma espécie feminina de "Rain Man", mas faltou talento, senso crítico, e capacidade de entrega técnica.

Queria desver.

Espero muito que "Babenco", que eu ainda não vi, seja um documentário de qualidade, por que estou absolutamente encantado por outro concorrente à vaga brasileira na disputa do Oscar Internacional, "A Febre". Que filme ma-ra-vi-lho-so! Nem acredito que esteja na Netflix!

É claro que eu ia gostar, pois a influência do cinema do tailandês Apichatpong Weerasethakul é nítida. Temos igualmente totais condições de fazer um cinema enigmático, relevante, misterioso, florestal, como o tailandês consegue. A cineasta Maya Da-Rin pegou aquela atmosfera de cinema e a abrasileirou, com grande resultado, em sua estreia na direção. 

Falado em tukano e em português, "A Febre" trata do choque entre os povos Ameríndios da Amazônia e a ideia - historicamente atuante - de industrializar aquela região. Um homem índio, viúvo, chefe de família, trabalha como vigilante na hintelrândia de Manaus, acompanhando os processos de carga e descarga da Zona Franca. Tem um filho jovem, meio preguiçoso, meio afastado de suas origens, que por sua vez tem sua família; e uma filha, ténica de enfermagem, muito doce e amorosa, que é aprovada em Medicina na UNB, e sabe bem o valor dessa conquista. Ou seja, vemos um processo de introdução dos índios na cultura branca, na idéia de "salário", na idéia de "jornada de trabalho", na ideia de "Rh", na ideia de "universidade". Ficamos relativamente felizes em vê-los progredir, mas de repente, meio angustiados, por saber que o que chamamos de avanço, na verdade, também é uma perda. Uma perda da cultura própria, dos seus costumes, de vê-los sem tempo para participar dos costumes antigos da famílias...

Estou escrevendo aqui e lembrando de inúmeros detalhes do filme...Não vou conseguir fazer jus a tanta inteligência. Em certo momento, o protagonista, o pai índio, precisa comprar um saco de cimento, e ele vai carregando à noite, depois do expediente, o pesado saco nas costas, sem reclamar, e caminha, e caminha, e percebemos que eles moram na periferia de Manaus. Tipo, são índios "favelados". No trajeto, ele para e ouve em uma casinha a celebração de um culto evangélico, mas em língua tukana. É chocante ouvir passagens da Bíblia numa língua indígena, ela mesma quase um segredo, de poucos falantes...Que horror esse travesti de expansão jesuítica!

O título se explica pela reação no corpo do pai, ao perceber sua filha saindo de casa. Uma reação emocional a muitas coisas. Uma somatização de todas as mudanças. Ele começa a ter sonhos em que anda pela floresta à noite. Ao mesmo tempo, um animal está atacando outros bichos na região (exatamente como em "Mal Dos Trópicos"), como informa a televisão. Ao mesmo tempo, que um colega de trabalho, de aspecto perigoso, vindo de fora, traz uma aura de perigo na empresa de segurança, ao se revelar um ex-feitor de fazenda, preconceituoso ao associar os índios aos chineses das importações. Ao mesmo tempo, que ele começa a envelhecer e a cometer pequenos deslizes no trabalho...Ao mesmo tempo, que chove sempre...Ao mesmo tempo que faz calor...Ao mesmo tempo que...

O final é um deslize de canoa pelos igarapés. Uma cura ancestral ir para dentro da floresta.

O trabalho de som e o trabalho dos atores é maravilhoso, principalmente do ator Regis Myrupu. Salve o povo do Amazonas!

Que riqueza esse filme!

Rápidos comentários sobre a cerimônia:

* Ridículo o discurso inflamado de Mark Ruffalo, com absolutamente ninguém a fim de ouvir aquilo. Militância tem hora. 

* Em contraposição, que digno e emocionante o discurso da viúva do Boseman! Vai ganhar tudo.

*A quinta vaga de Atriz parece que está clara, agora, né? Mesmo sem o SAG.

* Surpresa em Canção. Contudo, acho que ainda não será a vez de Diane Warren.

* Para a Carey Mulligan foi muito bom não ter perdido para a Viola Davis. Da mesma forma, para a Yuh-jung Youn foi muito bom ter perdido para Jodie Foster que não entrou nem no SAG nem no Critics Choice.

* Daniel Kaluuya seguirá ganhando até o fim da temporada.

* "Minari", além do ridículo prêmio internacional representando os Estados Unidos, teve destaque até no maravilhoso discurso da Jane Fonda. Pode levar o SAG de elenco.

*Sei que é business, mas ver as pessoas altamente emperequitadas para ficarem na frente de uma tela de computador é ridículo. Salve a simplicidade orgânica de Chloé Zhao, que foi das poucas, junto com a Jodie Foster, a entender que o caráter mais relaxado seria mais elegante, num ano de aflição econômica para todos.

Sim, estar bem arrumado até vai mas alguns exageraram. O Bill Murray e o Jason Sudeiksy estavam bem a vontade .  Já a Anya Taylor Joy.

"Kapaemahu" está pré-selecionado ao Oscar de Curta de Animação, e desde sempre foi tido como um dos virtuais 5 indicados. Com uma abordagem mítica, conta a história de seres espirituais - masculinos/femininos, como ressalta - que passarão segredos de cura para os habitantes originários do Pacífico, que se instalarão no Hawai, mais precisamente em Waikiki Beach. Esses segredos de cura ficarão escondidos em grandes pedras deslocadas por aqueles povos para a praia.

Na segunda metade do curta, mostra-se como a evolução dos séculos fizeram as pessoas esquecerem-se desses ensinamentos, possibilitando que as pedras fossem deslocadadas, negligenciadas, soterradas...Enfim, é um curta sobre como nós desvalorizamos o passado, desvalorizamos os ensinamentos, a memória, os aprendizados seculares, até mesmo nossos monumentos...Mesmo que eles guardem um valor imortal.

Muito bonito como desenho, colorido como um por do sol, e, narrativamente, todo narrado em alguma língua nativa das ilhas do Pacífico.

Gostei muito.

As indicações ao BAFTA estão por chegar, e eu não estou dando muita atenção a elas...

É que além do desânimo pessoal por essa temporada singular - sem cinema, sem cerimônia, sem festa - o BAFTA este ano mudou tanto de regra que dificilmente servirá como parâmetro para o Oscar. Acusado, não sem razão, de menosprezo às minorias, eles alteraram muito o regulamento. Está bem confuso! Há uma espécie de júri para algumas categorias, há uma espécie de lista prévia para os filmes, há cotas de representatividade de gênero, há 6 indicados nas categorias de atuação...Ou seja, a lista do prêmio será fatalmente bem diferente do que estamos acompanhando até aqui. E vai nos dizer pouco sobre o que pensa os votantes ingleses do Oscar.

Não é que haverá surpresa, é que a surpresa está sendo desenhada já. Acho que "Another Round" (que eu não gostei), que foi muito bem nas premiações europeias, ou "O Tigre Branco" (que eu adorei), ou  "Saint Maud" (que eu não vi) podem se dar muito bem.

Candidato da Rússia ao Oscar de Melhor Filme Internacional, "Dear Comrades!", de Andrei Konchalovsky, é muito bom filme. Eu estava amando a primeira hora, mas a segunda...

Drama histórico, conta a história de um massacre ocorrido em 1962, com o governo soviético sufocando um protesto de trabalhadores, e depois encobrindo o massacre, seja cobrindo de asfalto as marcas de sangue das ruas, seja escondendo os corpos, ou prendendo as testemunhas do que se passara. O povo protestava contra o reajuste de preços que a economia planificada não conseguia mais segurar ( A propósito, muita gente ainda acredita em controle de preços, seja dos alimentos, seja dos combustíveis. Esse controle nunca deu certo, nem nunca dará, pois a inflação é sempre, e em todo lugar, um fenômeno monetário! Quando governos gastam em excesso, a moeda se desvaloriza. Simples assim. Estamos vendo isso atualmente no Brasil. Mas as pessoas preferem culpar fantasmas, como "a ganância dos empresários", "especuladores internacionais", ou outro vilão caricatural). KGB e Exército então se unem para rechaçá-los, em meio a discórdias de como proceder.

O filme tem um cuidado todo especial com sua parte visual. Figurino, cenários, locação, a Fotografia a preto e branco, a razão de aspecto diferenciada, tudo é lindo e convincente. Mas o problema do filme é que o clímax acontece no meio! Depois há apenas um exaurimento da ideia principal. 

Mesmo com esse problema narrativo, por enquanto é o melhor dos filmes semifinalistas da categoria.
