Salt had solid debuts in a number of major territories, while Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After each passed the $400 million mark. Inception earned an estimated $55 million from 7,610 screens in 51 markets, bringing its overseas total to $171.5 million. It's only major opening was in Germany, where it earned $7.3 million including previews. It also had another phenomenal hold in the United Kingdom, dropping 23 percent to $5 million. Through its third weekend, Inception has managed to pass the overseas total of Batman Begins to become director Christopher Nolan's second highest-grossing title ever overseas, behind The Dark Knight. With a $369.1 million worldwide total (domestic plus foreign), Inception is set to open in Spain and Brazil this week. Toy Story 3 had another second place finish, drawing $39.1 million from 48 territories, and its holdover territories were off just 36 percent. This included a light 30 percent drop in the U.K. ($12.4 million), along with a seven percent increase in Japan ($7.1 million). Toy Story 3's international total now sits at $436.4 million, surpassing Ratatouille, and it should pass Up on Monday to become the second-highest grossing Pixar title ever overseas behind Finding Nemo ($528.2 million). Toy Story 3's worldwide sum stands at $826.1 million, good for 23rd place on the all-time chart. In its first major weekend, Salt pulled in $24.5 million. This included a personal best opening in South Korea ($6.6 million) for Angelina Jolie, along with solid if ultimately unremarkable openings in Russia ($5 million), Japan ($4.1 million) and Brazil (S2.3 million). Through its second weekend, its overseas total is $32.97 million. Shrek Forever After took another steep fall, dipping 43 percent to $19.5 million from 57 markets. It has now earned $405.9 million overseas (for a worldwide total of $641.7 million). Knight & Day had another solid weekend, grossing $13.5 million for an overseas total of $110 million. The Karate Kid was up 23 percent to $12.2 million, and has thus far earned a respectable $81.7 million overseas. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse continued to rapidly decline, falling 44 percent to $11.2 million for a total of $356.7 million. Despicable Me rose to $10.2 million from 20 territories for a $28.8 million total. The Last Airbender earned $9.4 million in 16 markets, tallyng $39.5 million. O filme passa dos 20 milhões fácil, e custou 4. Já arrecadou 5 vezes o custo, muito bom. "Inception" passa de 300, acho. "Toy" com 400 garantidos, e "Eclipse" com 300. Members Administrator
Around-the-World Brief: 'Inception' Rolls On Unabated by Ray Subers August 9, 2010 Topping the foreign box office for the third weekend in a row, there was no slowing down Inception. Toy Story 3 also continued to perform well and appears poised to reach the $1 billion mark worldwide (domestic plus foreign). Inception was down just 13 percent to $47.8 million in 61 markets. This included a $4.5 million opening in Spain and a $2 million start in Brazil. In less than a month in theaters, Inception has earned $251.2 million overseas for a worldwide total of $478.2 million. Toy Story 3 continued its phenomenal run this weekend, off 25 percent to $29.4 million in 49 territories, which represents 97 percent of the international marketplace. It's only major opening this weekend was in South Korea, where it debuted to $4.8 million. In the United Kingdom, it added another $7.7 million and became that nation's highest-grossing animated movie ever with a $78 million tally. Toy Story 3 has made $498.7 million overseas, bringing its worldwide haul to $895 million. It topped Finding Nemo to become Pixar's highest-grossing movie ever and moved to 16th place on the all-time worldwide chart. Salt dipped 31 percent to an estimated $16.9 million in 39 markets. Noteworthy openings came from Mexico ($1.4 million) and Singapore ($1.2 million). Through its third weekend, the Angelina Jolie spy thriller has earned $62.8 million overseas. Adam Sandler ensemble comedy Grown Ups had its best overseas weekend thus far, grossing $12.7 million in 30 territories. Most of that came from openings in Germany ($5 million), Russia ($2 million) and Austria ($1 million). The comedy's foreign total rose to $33.5 million. Adding $12.2 million in 47 territories, Knight & Day showed few signs of slowing down. It had a decent $3.9 million debut in the U.K., though that was less than half of what star Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible III opened to back in 2006. On Sunday, Knight & Day crossed the $200 million mark overseas. The Last Airbender earned $10.2 million in 25 territories for a total of $53 million. Shrek Forever After was close behind, grossing an estimated $10.2 million to bring its overseas total to an impressive $426.7 million. Despicable Me found another $9.8 million for a $43.5 million total, though it hasn't yet played in most major markets.

Beckin
