Members Cremildo
The Guns of Navarone Blu-ray Posted August 8, 2011 04:08 PM by Josh Katz The American branch of Sony Pictures is planning a Blu-ray release of The Guns of Navarone. Based on Alistair MacLean's novel, the film stars Gregory Peck (The Omen), Anthony Quinn (Last Action Hero), and David Niven (Casino Royale) as a team of Allied soldiers on a top-secret mission to destroy a German gun encampment on the Greek island of Navarone. Based on a recent interview with Grover Crisp, Senior Vice President for Asset Management, Film Restoration and Digital Mastering for Sony Pictures Entertainment, it is possible that the Blu-ray of the film will receive a 4K digital restoration similar to the work done on Sony's recent The Bridge on the River Kwai and Taxi Driver discs. In addition, a number of supplemental features will accompany The Guns of Navarone, including: The Greek Resistance featurette The Old School Wizardry of The Guns of Navarone featurette World War II and the Greek Islands featurette The Real World of Guns of Navarone featurette The Navarone Effect featurette Military Fact or Fiction featurette Commentary with Film Historian Stephen J. Nacka
