Devido à receptividade positiva acerca da performance de Albert Brooks no filme Drive em Cannes, este passa a incluir a lista de possíveis candidatos a ator coadjuvante, categoria que, aliás, me parece bem mais forte que nas edições anteriores. Viggo Mortensen, Christopher Plummer, John Hawkes, Kenneth Brannagh, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Christoph Waltz, Jim Broadbent, Armie Hammer, Garrett Hedlund, Ezra Miller, Brad Pitt, as opções são bem mais vastas que nessa mesma época do ano passado para a categoria.

Trata-se do filme Margaret, de Kenneth Lonergan (o mesmo de You Can Count on Me). Era para ter sido lançado em 2007, mas foi adiado. Alguns sites especializados colocam Paquin como potencial candidata por este filme.

Margaret já se tornou uma pequena lenda entre os projetos que queimaram no fogo do "inferno de desenvolvimento". Vai ser um estranho vê-lo sendo finalmente lançado.

Lembrando (ou informando, para quem não souber) que Jessica Lange ganhou seu segundo Oscar, primeiro na categoria principal, por um filme orignalmente produzido em 1991 e lançado somente em 1994. Ou seja, Anna Paquin ser indicada não parece tão absurdo.

Se bem que estes projetos "lenda" estão começando a sair do papel, li algo sobre isso a pouco tempo atrás. Até mesmo aquele projeto enfadonho do Terry Gilliam de adaptar Dom Quixote parece que estava caminhando...

O projeto engavetado que mais me deixou triste foi The Doll's House, que seria dirigido pela Liv Ullman e produzido pelo Bergman, com as fenomenais Kate Winslet e Annette Bening.

Albert Nobbs também é um desses projetos que se arrastam por anos atrás de financiamento. A Glenn Close vinha lutando para desenvolvê-lo havia uns quinze anos. Aliás, parece-me persistir um excesso de comparação entre ela e a Meryl Streep, como se ambas pertencessem a um mesmo perfil como atriz, não só devido à faixa etária, já que outras atrizes nessa idade conseguem bons papéis frequentemente, mas por haver uma comparação estúpida entre elas, desde os idos dos anos oitenta, pelo que li certa vez, e taxassem Glenn Close como uma opção barata, inferior. A Meryl Streep é extraordinária mesmo, a maioria concorda, mas eu acho injusto esquecer a Glenn Close, cujo valor como atriz ficou comprovado em interpretações marcantes como a Marquesa de Merteuil, em Ligações Perigosas e hoje encontra o seu refúgio na televisão, já que no cinema não encontra espaço. O musical baseado em Crepúsculo dos Deuses que seria estrelado pela Glenn Close está há anos na gaveta e já cogitaram certa vez desenvolvê-lo com a Meryl Streep interpretando Norma Desmond. Não é possível que praticamente todo papel que surja nessa faixa etária só funcione com a Meryl Streep. A peça August: Osage County, que deve ser adaptada ao cinema com a Meryl Streep como protagonista, por exemplo, também poderia ficar interessante caso Glenn Close fosse a escolhida para o papel, mas sequer é considerada, pois  a Meryl Streep é considerada uma opção mais segura, os seus filmes tem dado bom retorno financeiro, indicações ao Oscar, então preferem não arriscar. Importante deixar claro que não estou culpando a Meryl Streep, ela conquistou o seu espaço pelo seu talento e merece que assim o seja, mas o foda é a indústria ignorar outra grande atriz, devido a uma comparação estúpida, similar a que existia entre Woody Allen e Mel Brooks nos anos setenta, esta então totalmente descompassada. Tanto é verdade que conheço muita gente que acha as últimas três indicações dela mais cacoete da Academia do que por grandes interpretações.  Ela também parece que caiu na armadilha de querer o seu terceiro Oscar a todo custo.  Mas relamente ela é incrível.  Vinha de atuações no piloto automático como Um amor verdadeiro, Música do coração e afins e se reinventa de maneira espetacular em Adaptação e As horas.  Torço pra que isso aconteça de novo, mas não creio hoje que será como a Dama de ferro inglesa.

FLASH: SCOTT FEINBERG’S INITIAL FORECAST FOR 2011 ACADEMY AWARDS

 

 

I know, I know… it’s not yet even June, and the 84th Academy

Awards ceremony is still nine months (and one day) away, but I can’t

help myself… my thoughts are already turning to the coming Oscar race! Indeed,

I have spent the last several weeks pouring through mountains of

material and pestering dozens of knowledgable sources to try to get a

sense of the the landscape that awaits us. Now, in order to

provide myself and my readers with something fun to think and debate

about, I have decided to share my first projections of the 2011 awards

season. Needless to say, they are based on limited information and will

be amended regularly over the months to come… but, if my initial projections of last year’s Oscar race

(which I posted on June 23rd) are any indication, they may not prove to

be all that far off, after all. Time will tell. In the meantime, I hope

Assisti a Never Let Me Go do Mark Romanek.

 

Que coisa mais acachapante. Desde a concepção visual a densidade dramática do filme. Uma sobriedade triste que permeia ele todo sem nunca, nunca cair no clichê.

 

Lindo demais, fora que a cena do primeiro beijo é das coisas mais lindas e honestas que vi recentemente. Carey Mulligan, palmas, você é brilhante!

Acho que sou dos poucos que curte a Marisa Tomei em Meu Primo Vinny. Judy Davis tava massa também, mas não acho que a premiaria. O filme certamente, um dos melhores do Allen.

 

Hoje vi, depois de milênios, o excelente Tetro, do Coppola, injustamente mal recebido e mal criticado, esquecido nas premiações quando merecia ser lembrado de modo imponente. Fodão! Coppola faz um filme sobre si mesmo, encontrando leito no cinema de Michael Powell e Emeric Pressburger. Completamente alucinante!!!

Mas falando de Oscar, ontem revi o Slumdog Millionaire. Eu achava que já havia visto de tudo quando Crash ganhou o Oscar, mas esse aqui chega a ser pior. Onde diabos um filme com esse "nível de excelencia" ganha o Oscar?

Estou cada vez mais gostando da Keira Knightley.

 

Assisti hoje ao desconhecido e pouco divulgado Last Night, com ela.

 

Que grata surpresa o filme. Melhor que Closer, IMO. Um filme com plot relativamente parecido mas bem menos afetado e mais sóbrio.

 

Keira está ótima. Venho gostando das escolhas dela como atriz.

Vi estes dias esse Last Night e não gostei muito. Achei um tédio. E eu tenho problemas de empatia com aquele Avatar em forma de ator. Pra ser sincero, eu gostei mesmo foi do Guilhaume Canet, um ator interessante.

 

 

 

Vi também o Never Let me go, do Romanek e também não achei deveras interessante. Vale pela Carey Mulligan que é estupenda.

 

 

 

E pra piorar inventei de rever o tragicômico Slumdog Millionaire do Boyle. Sem noção.

Closer é genial.  E concordo com você Saulo, a Academia superou a cagada de ter premiado Gladiador (palavras minhas, porque gosto muito de Crash) premiando a bosta (literalmente) do filme do Boyle.Mulighan ok, é boa sim, mas a Keira...  Peguei uma implicância terrível com ela.  Mas quem sabe eu não mudo: eu odiava a Paltrow e hoje a idolatro (claro, porque virou uma grande atriz).  E será que só eu aqui gosto muitão da Bullock?
