Berlin fez algo assim com The Hours.
[/quote']

Movieline - MIXED
A weirdly sympathetic portrait of Wallis Simpson, the woman for whom a king gave up his throne, W.E. is the story of a life told through stuff: Evening gloves, cocktail shakers, baubles from Cartier, little hats trimmed with netting. It’s as if Madonna went back in time and forgot to talk to actual people, to find out how they lived and what they thought — but she sure did a lot of shopping.

The Telegraph - MIXED
It all looks good, or at least glossy, in the manner of high-end cosmetics commercials. Exotic locations (Portofino, Cap d’Antibes) are visited and luxury brand names (Moet, Cartier, Schiaparelli) tossed around. Wally pays repeatedly visits an auction of the Windsors’ possessions; W.E. often feels like an extended infomercial for Sotheby’s New York. Occasional flashes of wit intrude. “Your Majesty, you know your way to a woman’s heart,” Wallis says. “I wasn’t aiming that high,” he replies. But such moments are rare.

The Playlist - VERY NEGATIVE
All in all, we can only imagine that the Weinsteins bought the film sight unseen, or that they’re hoping to make a fast buck off the back of “The King’s Speech,” because despite a couple of solid performances, the film can’t be redeemed. We’ve never looked forward to Madonna going back on tour more, if only because it means that we’ll know, for certain, that she won’t be using that time to direct another movie.

The Hollywood Reporter - MIXED
This feeling of inevitability, backed up by snippets of Wallis’ own letters registering feelings of being trapped, and her and Edward’s eventual sorry fate as “the world’s most celebrated parasites,” is the one aspect of the story that rings true on a human level and is appealing and almost touching for that. The rest, unfortunately, feels artificial, programmed, rote.

The Guardian - NEGATIVE
For her big directoral flourish, Madonna has Wallis bound on stage to dance with a Masai tribesman while Pretty Vacant blares on the soundtrack. But why? What point is she making? That social-climbing Wallis-Simpson was the world’s first punk-rocker? That – see! – a genuine Nazi-sympathiser would never dream of dancing with an African? Who can say? My guess is that she could have had Wallis dressed as a clown, bungee jumping off the Eiffel Tower to the strains of The Birdy Song and it would have served her story just as well.

As in old Buñuel films about dinner parties that never end, the

characters have a morbid compulsion to remain in one another's company.

They try to patch over their differences. Civility is briefly restored –

and then the feuding begins again. As the film progresses, battle lines

are blurred and the couples turn against each other too.

The actors (all likely to be in awards contention) are clearly enjoying

themselves: Waltz is wonderfully sardonic as the lawyer more interested

in taking calls on his mobile than sorting out his son's problems.

Winslet is equally effective as a career woman with a weak stomach.

Jodie Foster strikes just the right pitch of shrewish self-righteousness

as the campaigner Penelope while John C Reilly's bonhomie masks his

anger and cynicism.

Ano pouco foda, hein?

Vi o trailer do The Eye of the Storm, e quem mais me impressionou foi a Judy Davis.

Tilda Swinton, Glenn Close, George Clooney e Michael Fassbender

descendants.jpg

George Clooney em The Descendants

shame.jpg

Carey Mulligan e Michael Fassbender em Shame

Gostei de ver We Need To Talk About Kevin e Shame

música do Brasil eu ainda espero ver devidamente reconhecido. Do Norte

ao Sul.

A Dangerous Method: Venice Film Review

dangerous_method_a_p.jpg

The Bottom Line

Precise, lucid and thrillingly disciplined, David

Cronenberg's film about boundary-testing in the early days of

psychoanalysis is brought to vivid life by the outstanding lead

performances of Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender

Keira Knightley earns raves at Venice for “A Dangerous Method” – AWARDS ALLEY

David Cronenberg’s latest, “A Dangerous Method,” held its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, with the press providing a surprising reaction: Applause.

Not

that Cronenberg’s film doesn’t deserve it. There’s a very good chance

it’s great. But the unwashed masses of the media rarely respond with

such effusive praise unless something’s really deserving, so “Dangerous Method” must be something special. Right?

http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117945939/

The Telegraph (* * *): "Talky, cerebral and intensely complex in its depiction of a fraught three-cornered relationship, A Dangerous Method is quite unlike any other film by director David Cronenberg, still widely associated with blood, gore and body parts. (...) The main performances are fine, with Fassbender conveying seething emotion beneath a calm veneer. But it’s Knightley that one remembers, for a full-on portrayal that is gutsy and potentially divisive in equal parts".

The Evening Standard (* * * *): "
The result is a film which the director calls an intellectual menage-a-trois with sexual overtones, and his first straight biopic.
It is a dark, troubling tale, set at the birth of psycho-analysis, that fictionalises reality with a calm appreciation of the passions that lay behind the trio's different views of treatment, cures and what is "normal" behaviour
".

The Playlist: (B): "All in all, it’s a pacy, absorbing picture, and one of real substance (certainly more so than the enjoyable, but somewhat hollow “Eastern Promises”). (...) Viggo Mortensen is, as he so often is these days, tremendous".

Movieline: "Cronenberg is working from a script by Christopher Hampton, and his control over the material is both masterful and confident in its lightness".

Emanuel Levy (B)"Cronenberg's psycho-sexual melodrama is a mixed bag, a superbly acted (Oscar-caliber turns by Fassbender, Mortensen, and Knightley), elegant film that's too theatrical and not particularly provocative or unsettling".

"Just heard that The Descendants is as good as Sideways and maybe George Clooney's best performance".

The Ides of March, Carnage e A Dangerous Method, todos saindo ilesos e aclamados.

An elegant and absorbing chamber piece of the film' date=' David Cronenberg’s delve into the turbulent relationship between psychiatrists Carl Jung and his mentor Sigmund Freud and the talented but troubled young woman Sabina Spielrein who comes between them, is beautifully watchable and driven by a series of thoughtful and stylish performances.

Knightley delivers an impressively nuanced performance that highlights Sabina’s intelligence and charisma
