A Conquista do Oeste:

 

 

Warner Home Video has announced a 2-disc special edition of How the West Was Won

which stars John Wayne, Henry Fonda, and James Stewart. The set will be

available to own from the 26th August, and should retail at around

$20.97. As well as a remastered and restored widescreen presentation,

the 2-disc release will include a Film Historian Commentary, Dave

Strohmaier’s critically-acclaimed, feature-length documentary Cinerama®

Adventure, Making of How the West Was Won (Archival featurette), and

the original theatrical trailer. An Ultimate Collector’s Edition will

also be available for $59.92. This will include the 2-disc special

edition, as well as a 20-page theatrical press book reproduction, 10

behind-the-scenes photo cards and 10 postcards, and an exclusive movie

poster offer.

Streeting simultaneously will also be a Blu-ray™ Hi-Def ($34.99 SRP)

version. Again, all the 2-disc features will be included, along with

special Digi-book packaging featuring 32-pages of rare press materials

and behind-the-scenes photos. Also, exclusive to Blu-ray is the

“SmileBox” version of the film which presents the image with a unique

curvature that virtually recreates the true Cinerama® experience in a

Warner Home Video has announced a deluxe edition of Cool Hand Luke which stars Paul Newman and George Kennedy. The Stuart Rosenberg directed film will be available to own from the 9th September, and should retail at around $19.97. Extras will include a commentary by noted writer and Paul Newman biographer, Eric Lax, a A Natural-Born World-Shaker: Making Cool Hand Luke featurette that takes an in-depth look at the creation of an uncompromising classic, and the theatrical trailer. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $28.99 with identical features. We've attached the package artwork below:

Disney Home Video has announced a 2-disc collector's edition of The Nightmare Before Christmas

for release on the 26th August. The film will be presented in 1.66:1

anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround

track. Extras will include a commentary by producer and writer Tim

Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman, some deleted

scenes, a storyboard to film comparison, a Jack's Haunted Mansion

Holiday Tour, Burton’s original poem narrated by Christopher Lee, a

making of featurette, another featurette on the world of Nightmare

Before Christmas, original trailers and posters, the complete short

film Vincent, and a digital copy of the film. Retail will be $32.99.

Additionally, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is also offering

Nightmare buffs the opportunity to purchase a limited release of the

Ultimate Collector’s Edition DVD Set featuring an individually numbered

hand-painted bust of Jack Skellington in all his gory glory equipped

with a Jack’s “Sandy Claws” hat and beard, a sound chip that plays

memorable lines from the film and a letter of authenticity. Retail will

be $179.99. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $39.99 with an

exclusive Introduction by Tim Burton.

film will be available to own from the 23rd September, and should

retail at around $20.97. Extras will include a commentary by film

critic Andrew Sarris, a music only track, a Whatever You Desire: Making

L.A.Confidential documentary, making of featurettes (Sunlight and

Shadow: The Visual Style of L.A.Confidential, A True Ensemble: The Cast

of L.A.Confidential, L.A.Confidential: From Book to Screen, L.A.of

L.A.Confidential Hollywood Center Motel), the 2000 L.A.Confidential TV

pilot, and trailers and TV spots. A Blu-ray release will also be

available for $28.99.

Realmente. E ainda vem com 1 disco a mais de extras, só ainda não sei o que virá nele.

 

Esse ano a Warner está comemorando 85 anos e serão lançadas até dezembro várias edições comemorativas. Mas parece que a festa é só lá fora.

City Lights Home Entertainment has announced Kiss of the Spider Woman

which stars William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga. The Hector

Babenco directed film will be available to own from the 21st October,

and should retail at around $34.98. As well as a digitally remastered

and restored presentation, the collector's edition will include a

full-length documentary film "Tangled Web: Making Kiss of the Spider

Woman". A Blu-ray release will also be available for $39.98. We've

which stars Anthony Perkins, and Janet Leigh. The set will be available

to own from the 7th October, and should retail at $26.98. The film

itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an

Acho que nem vão lançar uma edição dupla em DVD. Talvez fique pro Blu-Ray mesmo.

 

E essa edição brasileira é desnecessariamente porca (fullscreen, sem extras e imagem péssima; só o som que se salva). Gostei tanto do filme que quase comprei essa edição.

Eu adoro o filme... mas não vou comprar a edição existente por causa das razões que vc apontou. Não dá... Quanto à chegada de uma EE, a esperança é a última que morre. Se estão até relançando Psicose e Vertigo com widescreen anamórfico, o que impede de lançarem Mad Max 2 e O Segredo do Abismo (outro que recebeu um tratamento porco em DVD).

Quantos aos dvds do Hitchcock, comprei Marnie nas Americanas sem nem atentar para as especificações técnicas. Quando fui ver o filme descobri que era full!07 Nunca soube da Universal ter lançado algum filme mutilado por isso nem reparara, só depois quando não tinha mais jeito...

Se estão até relançando Psicose e Vertigo com widescreen anamórfico, o que impede de lançarem Mad Max 2 e O Segredo do Abismo (outro que recebeu um tratamento porco em DVD). [/quote']

Acho que ainda existem chances pra Mad Max sim, mas a Warner está com um certo atraso mesmo. A EE de LA Confidential era pra ter saído ano passado, e Sinfonia de Paris estava prometido pra 2006. Talvez mais pra frente saia Road Warrior em EE e Blue-Ray.
