Recentemente, ele trabalhou também em Moneyball - O Homem que Mudou o Jogo. Agora, pela primeira vez, Pfister assume a cadeira de diretor. O roteiro é também de um iniciante, Jack Paglen. O filme trata de cientistas que tentam expandir a capacidade de computadores até além da capacidade do cérebro humano, e de um grupo que tenta impedi-los de atingir seu objetivo. De acordo com o blog Thompson on Hollywood, parte da estória envolve um cientista cujo cérebro é postumamente transferido para um supercomputador. No elenco estão Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany e Kate Mara. O filme estreia nos EUA em 25 de abril do ano que vem. Nolan é um dos produtores. A Warner Bros. está no comando da produção. The film is penned by newcomer Jack Paglen, with Alcon Entertainment financing and producing the project. Rebecca Hall recently beat out Emily Blunt and Kate Mara's sister Rooney for the starring role opposite Depp. Principle photography is set to begin in April. Pfister is best-known as cinematographer for Christopher Nolan; he has shot seven of the director's eight features. He won an Oscar for "Inception" in 2011. Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder will serve as executive producers on "Transcendence." Warner Bros. will release the film April 25, 2014.
