Sai Paul Bettany e entra Daniel Craigsmiley19.gif...

<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

A PlayArte Pictures Anuncia a Filmagem de "The Golden Compass"

Trilogia 'Fronteiras do Universo' do escritor inglês Philip Pullman (ed.

Baseado na premiada obra de Philip Pullman, a trilogia best-seller His Dark Materials (Fronteiras do Universo) é composta pelos títulos The Golden Compass (A Bússola Dourada), The Subtle Knife (A Faca Sutil) e The Amber Spyglass (A Luneta Âmbar).

Estou ansioso pra ver o resultado.

2006-08-23 09:11:08 -
Veteran rocker SIR MICK JAGGER has sparked rumours he's proposed to longterm girlfriend L'WREN SCOTT after the stylist was snapped flaunting a glittering rock on her engagement finger.
Scott, who was shopping in London at the time with newly-married actress NICOLE KIDMAN, apparently had no qualms showing off the ring.
It would be Jagger's third marriage after failed relationships with BIANCA JAGGER and, more recently, JERRY HALL.
Just five months ago (MAR06), Hall dismissed suggestions her ex would tie the knot again insisting, "He's not the marrying kind."

Pullman films set to trigger cries of blasphemy

His Dark Materials Movie Trilogy CHRISTIANS say cinematic versions of a series of what they were anti-religious novels will prove as controversial among churchgoers as Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code.

Philip Pullman's trilogy His Dark Materials, which went into production yesterday, has prompted outrage among religious groups, who dismissed it as blasphemous anti-Christian propaganda.

The Catholic Herald condemned his work as "fit for the bonfire", while Rupert Kaye, chief executive of the Association of Christian Teachers, has said Pullman's "blasphemy is shameless".

http://www.hisdarkmaterials.org/

September message

Yes, here I am, at last. Various things have kept me away from the computer for too long, but I thought I`d let you know about my visit to Shepperton Studios the other day to see how the film of His Dark Materials is shaping up ...

But the first thing to say about the film is that the producers and director have assembled the greatest cast I could ever have hoped for. Dakota Blue Richards is Lyra to the life; Nicole Kidman is a magnificent Mrs Coulter; Daniel Craig is a Lord Asriel both powerful and daring. And it goes on: Tom Courtenay as Farder Corm, Jim Carter as Lord Faa, Clare Higgins as Ma Costa, Jack Shepherd as the Master of Jordan College, Eva Green as Serafina Pekkala, Simon McBurney as Fra Pavel - I`m astonished and delighted with every one of them, and with the others I haven`t got time to list. Take it from me: this is a brilliant cast.

The designs: not a great deal has been built yet, but I could see from the artwork how sumptuous and extraordinary this film will look. Dennis Gassner the designer has taken the look of our world, the world we call real, and added a little, and twisted a little, and enriched it a little, and come up with something which no-one could mistake for this world and yet which is reminiscent of it in a thousand ways. For me, as someone who likes to fool about making things out of wood, the best place in the whole studio was the workshop where they were making things: sledges, tables, guns, and the alethiometer. That was an extraordinary process. They use lasers that intersect at right angles (I think I`ve got it right) to etch the complex surface in resin, and then they make a mould from that and cast the casework in brass. The first one had come out of the mould just a couple of days before and was still being worked on, but the dial was in place (astonishing tiny paintings all perfectly realised) and I could see how the workings would move the hands and the needle. I bet it will work, too.

They were also working on the spy-flies. I suppose the term is animatronic: these are real objects, not collections of pixels - perfect creepy insects as big as my thumb, with minutely detailed legs and antennae, worked by a sort of joystick. They move, they turn their heads, they raise their wings, they chill your blood.

And the costumes!

Hundreds of them are in place already, hanging on their rails waiting to be put on. The gyptians look magnificent - rough and vivid patterned coats and boots; and Lyra`s dresses, from the slightly-too-small and shabby and often-repaired dress she has to wear at Jordan to the glamorous silken things Mrs Coulter buys for her in London, are beautifully right. Dakota told me that she never wears dresses in real life, but she loves wearing the pretty ones on the set. Like the designs for the sets, they are perfectly made to suggest something very like this world, but very subtly different.

Outside one of the great hangar-like studio buildings was an entire ship on the back of a gigantic lorry. It had come all the way from the Netherlands, and it was going to be transformed into the Costas` boat. And inside the buildings, giant ice-floes were being constructed.

I`ll tell you more once the filming is under way. For the moment, it all looks very good indeed, and I couldn`t be more pleased.

But I mustn`t let the HDM film take up all the space, because simultaneously the BBC have been making the second Sally Lockhart story, `The Shadow in the North`. I went to one of the locations they were using for the first story, `The Ruby in the Smoke`, a manor house somewhere in the depths of ... Well, I forget where it was now, but it was an extraordinary house, perfectly preserved as if time just hadn`t touched it. Billie Piper is playing Sally, and doing it brilliantly. I have to admit that I was surprised when they told me about that casting, because I would never have thought of Billie as a young Victorian woman - but she is a superb actress, and she inhabits the part with utter conviction. I also went to the read-through of `The Shadow`, and found myself thinking what a good story it was, and wondering where they`d got it from, before I remembered that I wrote it, the best part of twenty years ago. The Sally books have had to wait all this time to be dramatised, and a good thing too, because the BBC is their natural home. They`re not cinema: they`re television. Unless it`s James Bond, a series character is much more at home on the small screen. They`re planning to show the first one next Christmas, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed seeing it being made.

I`ll try to get back into the habit of writing a message every month. One of the reasons I`ve missed a few is that I`ve been working on `The Book of Dust`. As usual, I`m not going to say anything about it beyond the fact that it`s growing. And that will have to do.

It`s still August, but it feels like autumn this evening. The grass is damp, and the swallows will be going south soon. I hope we have a proper cold winter.

Northern Lights filming starts/Behind the scenes filming Northern Lights

Filming for the movie version of Philip Pullman's Northern Lights has started in Oxford.

Newsround can exclusively reveal that scenes have been shot over the last few days at different university locations.

Northern Lights is the story of Lyra, who lives in a version of Oxford in a different universe. She travels to the north of the world to save her friend.

The University's Exeter College has been standing in for Lyra's home, Jordan College.

Filming at other locations around the city is thought to have involved 12-year-old Dakota Blue Richards, who plays Lyra, and James Bond star Daniel Craig, who plays her guardian Lord Asriel.

Dakota was chosen for the role from more than 10,000 girls who turned up to open auditions around England. This is her first film role.

The huge production team for the movie arrived in Oxford on Sunday and are due to stay for the rest of the week.

It's believed that scenes involving Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, who plays the evil Mrs Coulter, are due to be filmed later this week.

The film version of Northern Lights is due to be released in November 2007.

- Behind the scenes filming Northern Lights

Oxford is under siege from daemons and gobblers as filming of the Northern Lights book by Philip Pullman began in the city this week.
Newsround's Claudine Spera went down to find out what was going on.

Most of Oxford hasn't changed very much over the last few hundred years but on Monday the ancient city was transformed into something that looked like a version of the city from a different universe.

The universe of film making, to be precise! The cobbled streets were crammed full of huge lighting trucks, and the ancient squares were filled with technicians moving scenery, fiddling with lights and setting up cameras.

Most of the activity was set around the University's Exeter College - where author Philip Pullman used to study - which is being used as Jordan College in the film.

Out in the street it was impossible to see much of what was going on inside the high college walls.

But from early in the morning, prop vans were arriving carrying things like small trees and shrubs, which were quickly whisked into the college gates to set the scene for filming.

Fifty metres away a huge camera was being loaded on to a crane, ready to swoop through the air and take aeriel shots of buildings like the University's library known as the Bodleian, as well as Exeter College.

Sadly, there were no armoured bears guarding the set, but there was high security everywhere.

And the guards - no wolf daemons in sight - weren't saying much. They wouldn't even confirm what movie was being filmed. But a huge sign warning the public that the Northern Progress Company Ltd was filming was enough to give the game away for fans of the book.

But after several hours of staking out the set, where were the actors? And what about their daemons? I didn't have alethiometer to consult, so I did the next best thing. And asked a friendly passer by.

She replied that some people "in funny costumes" had been filming about 10 minutes away, so I went to investigate some more.

A huge area was cordoned off by a 3m high green fence and surrounded by equally tall security guards.

Inside the enclosure massive trailers were lined up next each other - the dressing rooms of the big stars of the film - and alongside them lots of very expensive looking cars.

The place was awash with rumours that the girl who plays Lyra , Dakota Blue Richards, 12, had been on set earlier in the day.

But as many people don't know what she looks like yet, I couldn't be sure. But I am convinced I caught a glimpse of Daniel Craig, who plays Lord Asriel, as he was driven off the set in his big silver car.

Now if only I had The Subtle Knife, I could cut my way through a few handy universes and get to see a bit more. Oh well, maybe I will for the next movie.

A escritora J.K.

Rowling)

Sauron (trilogia Senhor dos Anéis, J.R.R. Tolkien)

Sra. Coulter (da trilogia Fronteiras do Universo, de Philip Pullman)

Lex Luthor (quadrinhos do Super-Homem, DC Comics)

Coringa (quadrinhos do Batman, DC Comics)

Conde Olaf (da coleção Desventuras em Série, de Lemony Snicket)

A Outra Mãe (Coraline, de Neil Gaiman)

A Feiticeira Branca (As Crônicas de Nárnia: O Leão, a Feiticeira e o Guarda-Roupa, de C.S. Lewis)
