Oscar 2017: Previsões

Decisão acertada adiarem a estreia de "Sully", no Brasil. Não ia pegar bem no momento. Decisão mais acertada é se ninguém perder seu tempo para ver isso no cinema! É uma produção bem-feita, mas nada de mais!

 

O filme poderia ser muito maior do que é se ele fosse a respeito da atual necessidade de devassar a vida de alguém que chamou a atenção por alguma coisa. Mas o filme perde a chance de ir nessa linha, para mostrar objetivamente o que de fato aconteceu, por várias vezes. Não é um filme com um fiapo de história, não é isso, é um filme basicamente sem conflito, em desesperada busca de um antagonista, em busca de algum contraforte.

 

Mas meus maiores problemas com o filme foram:

 

1) Falta inspiração cinematográfica! Em um momento, chupa uma cena linda de..."Anomalisa"! Em outro momento, chupa uma cena de... "Birdman". Não, não estou enlouquecendo.

2) Laura Linney está completamente desperdiçada, cumprindo o papel "Esposa desesperada ao telefone". É a Sienna Miller da vez. Ela fez "The Savages", ela fez "You can count on me"!! Que falta de respeito oferecer um personagem assim a uma atriz desse quilate.

 

Mas o mais importante:

 

3) Por que em pleno Século XXI, Clint Eastwood precisa tanto procurar a figura de um herói americano? Por que estamos carentes de modelos? O heroísmo desde sempre caracterizou-se por ser um ato moral. É definição de encliclopédia! Eu, Sérgio, não vejo necessidade alguma de um filme "moralizante". Não é através do cinema que se obtém esse efeito exterior/ulterior na sociedade. Que saudade do Clint Eastwood de antigamente, atuando em "As Bruxas", ao lado de Silvana Mangano, dirigido por Vittorio De Sica...A pessoa envelhece e encareta de uma forma que não dá pra entender! Tudo bem ter um pensamento conservador (Um conservador é um liberal que foi assaltado), mas ser conservador artisticamente depois de ter trabalhado com gente desse naipe é foda!

 

Tom Hanks está bem? Está bem. Segura o rojão? Segura. E daí? Não vejo razão para indicá-lo novamente. Torci muito pela indicação dele em "Captain Phillips", naquele ato final angustiante, mas não é por "Sully" que ele merece voltar. Não é. Talvez se pensarem no acumulado, a indicação venha. Mas será justa? Penso que não. Já Aaron Eckahrt está bem como..."escada" do protagonista. Só isso. Não tem tridimensão. Um ator ser "escada" de outro é comum, não tem nada de errado nisso. Mas não é pra concorrer ao Oscar sendo "escada".

 

O roteiro é covarde, não apresenta conflito, e só tem três frases inspiradas. Um trabalho que parece até encomendado. 

 

Gostei da Fotografia, principalmente as externas, do Tom Stern, ele que tem uma indicação por "Changeling" - que eu adoro (me julguem!). É bonito, mas merece entrar? Não!

 

A rigor, a rigor, talvez só indicasse "Sully" em "Edição de Som", que é do genial Bub Asman, duas vezes ganhador por filmes do Eastwood, e sempre indicado.

 

 No mais, não gastem seu dinheiro com isso.

Oi, Imborba! Adorei os cartazes diferentes!  Não vi a animação "Your Name", premiada em Los Angeles, na sua lista.

 

Obrigado, Sergio. Já adicionei o Your Name e também corrigi os docs, eliminando os que ficaram fora da lista e adicionando os outros que entraram.

 

Destes docs só vi The 13th e Life, Animated. 

 

Sobre The 13th, sempre me preocupam um pouco estes docs que tentam construir grandes estudos sobre um determinado tema. É muito comum eles incorrerem em principalmente dois problemas: o viés de confirmação e o uso de evidências anedóticas. Em geral os dois acabam se complementando. Embora o filme tenha uma linha de raciocínio muito clara, e eu concorde com algumas das conclusões, ele não deixa de cair nestes dois problemas em diversos momentos.

 

Sobre Life, Animated. Aqui já não se trata de um grande estudo, mas sim de uma história de vida e pronto. Eu, por alguma matéria de televisão, já conhecia a história do personagem principal desse doc. Mas a forma de contar a história, buscando a visão do protagonista (que tem uma forma severa de autismo) na maior parte do tempo, tornou a experiência muito enriquecedora para mim.

Por ter lido o livro com atenção, sempre disse que ele apareceria pouco, mas não tão pouco. Tesouraram muito o texto então. De qualquer forma, em que pese o embargo, os críticos têm encontrado formas de dizer o que pensam sobre o filme, e tudo que eu leio é bastante positivo.

Adoro ouvir o Pete Hammond e seu panorama de dentro do processo:

 

Emma Stone, até agora, nenhum prêmio. Porém, está em todas as festas de L.A. Ele fornece informações interessantes sobre esse crescente apoio a "Hell or High Water": o estúdio distribuiu dvds por toda Hollywood. Só ele recebeu 4 cópias. E, como foi cedo, as pessoas viram o filme e perceberam como ele é bom. Chama a atenção para o fato de "Loving" estar fora da lista da AFI, por que não haveria filme mais americano para estes tempos do que este. Teme por "Silence" ser visto em screeners, pois o lugar dele é nos cinemas - até pela sua duração. Diz que Issey Ogata está fantástico. Diz que o filme é lindamente executado,e que na opinião dele, Martin é forte concorrente em Direção. Apesar de ter gostado, não crê em "Jackie" indicado a Melhor Filme, embora seja o único cavalo da Fox na corrida. Compara a paixão que a plateia sente por "La La Land" ao que houve com "The Artist" (Veremos como vai agora de bilheteria!). Anúncio dos indicados aos Golden Globes amanhã.

Compara a paixão que a plateia sente por "La La Land" ao que houve com "The Artist" (Veremos como vai agora de bilheteria!).

 

Acabo de ver que La La Land agora detêm o recorde anual de bilheteria média por cinema em que foi lançado (a 10a melhor bilheteria média de todos os tempos). Foi lançado em só cinco cinemas e arrecadou 171 mil dólares por cinema. Ainda é cedo, claro, mas parece um bom indício de que ele vai se sair bem.

Para mim, a categoria mais importante do Globo de Ouro é a de Direção. Mel Gibson em vez de Denis Villeneuve espanta.

 

No mais, concordo com a  Sasha Stone de que ser indicado no Globo de Ouro em geral, só soma, não desprestigia. Quanto a "Silence'", parece óbvio, que não viram o filme. São os males da exibição tardia, inclusive perdendo o SAG.

 

O grande esnobado foi "Sully" como um todo, e Tom Hanks especificamente. Será "Fences" pouco cinematográfico? "Hell Or High Water" merecidamente, muito bem na fita.

 

Aprendi a falar Mahershala Ali depois de alguns dias treinando, já pensando em vê-lo com a estatueta.

 

Ansioso por "Manchester By The Sea". 

 

"La La Land" vai ter uma vitória estrondosa, talvez só não gabarite, por causa de Roteiro.

Pequeno e bonito; muito bem escrito; ousado e fofo ao mesmo tempo; Molly Shannon excelente ( alguns observadores a classificavam como uma possibilidade remota em Coadjuvante); tem aquele hilário garoto "gay" - se posso dizer assim - J. J. Totah. E o protagonista, Jesse Plemons, arrebenta também. É o tipo de comédia que muito alvejamos mas não conseguimos fazer no Brasil.

O Jesse Plemons eu já venho acompanhando desde Friday Night Lights e ele vem de papeis em The Master e The Homesman. Junto com o Michael B. Jordan, são dois excelentes nomes que saíram daquela série, que exigia bastante dos atores jovens. Também não duvido que ainda estourem mais alguns nomes que tiveram seus primeiros grandes papéis ali (eu lembro particularmente de Dora Madison e Minka Kelly).

 

E concordo com o Sergio. É um filme que precisa ser visto, apesar de não estar forte na corrida pelo Oscar. Neste sentido, me lembrou Obvious Child: uma comédia sobre temas polêmicos que eu acabei vendo muito cedo na temporada e acabou não sendo indicada a nada, mas teve a minha torcida em todos os prêmios.
