Man of Steel: Bryan Singer's Version? All Superman Stuff IESB has posted a story that is purported to be a summary of Bryan Singer's intended sequel to Superman Returns, Man of Steel. Picking up on plot threads from Superman Returns, the story postulates that the crystal continent Superman threw into space has become a near-perfect sphere dubbed New Krypton, which is visible from earth like the moon. This satellite draws in the attention of another apparent survivor from Krypton, who is befriended by Superman and ultimately "replaces" him in the hearts of the people because he has introduced advanced technology, despite the Man of Steel's insistance he not interfere with human development. Not surprisingly, things aren't as they appear to be. "Superman starts getting a bit suspicious of Krypto buddy and decides to go talk to him," offers the article. "He goes to his spaceship and has a revelation. This massive ship is full of hundreds if not thousands of identical bodies aboard, yep, clones of Krypto buddy, in stasis. So Superman digs a bit more inside the computer system, which is familiar to him since it's Kryptonian technology just like the Fortress of Solitude. Superman finds out that Krypto buddy is actually an artificial intelligence from Krypton that has evolved since the destruction of their world. He escaped Krypton just like Kal-El did and his real name is Brainiac. He has been going from planet to planet, taking their technology, helping these worlds reach a relative perfection and then he destroys them and moves on. "Superman also finds out that he was actually responsible for the destruction of Krypton and tries to warn the leaders of the world but is confronted by Braniac. A massive battle ensues and Superman is about to defeat his foe but right just before Brainiac downloads his conscience into one oh his other clones. "So Brainiac uses Kryptonian technology and beams/download itself into Jason's body and this causes causes him to age and grow into a full adult but with Brainiac in complete control. Superman realizes what just happened and rushes to confront his very own son who is now possessed by Brainiac. Is Jason still there or is it all Brainiac? It's all Braniac and Superman knows what he has to do, he must defeat Brainiac at all costs or the planet and it's inhabitants will be doomed.... There is a Christ like metaphor here. October 28, 2010: Hans Zimmer Talks Superman Movie Music Popcorn Biz at NBCSanDiego.com has published an interview with composer Hans Zimmer. Zimmer collaborated on the scores for "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight", and admits to having a meeting lined up with Christopher Nolan to discuss working on the third Batman film, "The Dark Night Rises". He doesn't clarify if he'll also be scoring the up-coming new Superman movie (which Nolan will be producing), but he does talk about whether or not the John Williams' "Superman" theme should be retained. Given that Nolan is also overseeing the development of a renewed revival of "Superman" helmed by Zack Snyder, Popcorn Biz had to ask Zimmer's opinion on a burning question, whether he works on that film or not: do you re-employ John Williams' theme for the Man of Steel, one of the most lauded scores in film history, or do you start anew with a fresh, fully original score? "It's a hard one," mused Zimmer, "but I followed one of the most iconic things on 'Batman' with Chris as well, and it's the same thing. List of potential Superman Candidates Here I will be analyzing the potential actors who will be portraying Earth's greatest hero in Zack Snyder's The Man of Steel HENRY CAVILL Henry Cavill is a true fans favourite for the role. Originally CAST as Superman in McG's Superman: Flyby until the Director left the project taking Cavill with him. That was at the tender age of 21 but now he 27 and is at the prime age for taking on a new film series and with his film career going nowhere but up, Cavill is the perfect candidate in every department: looks, age, ability and with 8 months in a gym, the ultimate Superman. My Odds: 3/1 JAKE GYLLENHAAL Gyllenhaal isn't really associated with action roles, until now. Recently starring in Prince of Persia as the lead action role, he is now a serious contender for being Superman. He put on a voice for the role of the Prince and avoided using his natural voice, which would be a good attribute to have for making the separate persona's of Superman and Clark Kent a reality. My Odds: 5/1 JOSH HARTNETT Hartnett is another candidate that has also been previously cast as Superman in a film that never made it to screen. The Wolfgang Petersen Directed Superman vs Batman in 2002 but the project was dropped in favour of Christopher Nolan's reboot, Batman Begins and the Superman: Flyby project. Hartnett has a good high profile name that Exec. Producer Chris Nolan looks for and has a similar look to Superman and that is enough to put him up there for contention. My Odds: 7/1 JARED PADALECKI One half of the star duo of TV phenomenon Supernatural, Padalecki has screen tested for the role in previous failed projects before, notably the 2006 Bryan Singer directed Superman Returns. He has the almost perfect look, 6'3 tall, stocky build, the right age and a good male/female following that will stand him in good stead for the role as well as a competent acting ability. My Odds: 10/1 SAM WORTHINGTON Worthington has been linked with the role and is considered to be a favorite in some circles. He has the definite name to draw people to the movie and has links in high places, ie Christian Bale, James Cameron and is a fan of Comic Book Movies, recently campaigning for the role of Captain America. He is small for the role of Superman and that could be his downfall. My Odds: 12/1 SCOTT PORTER Porter was linked with the role of Superman in George Miller's failed Justice League: Mortal but eventually lost out to DJ Catrona. Porter isn't really a fan favorite but I could see him really growing into the role and becoming a great Superman. He has the potential to really make you believe that Clark Kent and Superman are totally different characters and has the look of a normal looking Superman, not a poster boy or a 90210 Superman. My Odds: 13/1 RICK MALAMBRI Malambri is a relative unknown with his most recent role being as the male lead in dance film, Step Up: 3D. He has the best look out of any candidate on the list for Superman, but his unknown status and his acting ability is questionable, but if Snyder and Nolan decide to follow Superman tradition and cast an unknown in the role, which Malambri fits perfectly. My Odds: 14/1 MATTHEW BOMER A massive fan favourite for Superman, but are those people aware that most female's are taller than him. He has portrayed Superman in a number of Japanese commercials for Toyota. Bomer has a good look for Superman but his height is the major stumbling block and is surely the reason why he won't get it. But with Snyder and Nolan at the helm, some good camera tricks could pull him off but it is up in the air. My Odds: 20/1 JOE MANGANIELLO Already starred in a Comic Book Movie playing jock Flash Thompson in Spider-Man. Manganiello recently campaigned for the role of Superman in the movie at this years San Diego Comic Con 2010 and that will be taking in by the Headwigs. But his ability and look is questionable and his age is the wrong side of 30 so it will look to be seen whether he will make it, but worth a screen test nether the less. My Odds: 24/1 SCOTT ELDROD Elrod is another unknown actor who isn't known to the populace. Standing at 6'3, blue eyes, black hair and a stocky build, this is another who has the perfect look. But will Snyder and Nolan be going on looks alone or will they over look him for acting ability. I personally haven't seen Elrod act and his acting ability can't be that good if he hasn't been in anything massive so far, but he could be a hidden gem, worth a screen test at least. My Odds: 28/1 JON HAMM A portion of the fans' favorite due to his similar looks to Alex Ross' Superman, at the tender of 39, 41 when The Man of Steel is due to come out, he is a little on the older side to carry off a new Film Franchise.
