Estão considerando a Cate Blanchett como "atriz principal" na previsões por Benjamin Button? Sempre achei que a participação dela no filme fosse pequena, em Notas sobre um Escândalo ela era protagonista e foi indicada como coadjuvante, vai entender!
No momento apenas uma ótima bilheteria salva o filme.

A promissora reunião com De Niro e Marlon Brandon em A Cartada Final foi uma decepção, um filme extremamente simplista. Talentoso o Norton é, apenas precisa escolher melhor os filmes em que atua. Enquanto a Sony Pictures e a Capcom lançam no Japão este fim de semana o longa-metragem animado Resident Evil: Degeneration, surgem novidades sobre o quarto filme em live-action da série.
Diretor do primeiro, produtor e roteirista dos três Resident Evil, Paul W.S. Anderson falou ao Sunday Sun inglês que atualmente escreve o roteiro do remake de The Long Good Friday (saiba mais) e que, em seguida, "provavelmente vai escrever Resident Evil 4".
Como Anderson tem esse projeto paralelo com a Sony Pictures, ele mais uma vez deve passar o bastão de diretor a outra pessoa. Em julho passado, ele se limitou a dizer que já começou a falar com a Sony sobre o quarto filme.

As duas vagas que sobram ficariam entre Kristin Scott Thomas, Sally Hawkins e Anne Hatheway. Como não vi as suas atuações, são apenas especulações.Sobre a Jolie e a Academia tb acho que o preconceito contra ela é enorme lá, porém esnobar dois anos seguidos a maior estrela da atualidade em atuações elogiadas seria, mais do que um erro, uma injustiça!É o coração falando pessoal....

Milla que está nos cinemas no filme Resident Evil 2 - Apocalipse, prefere ver Angelina como uma "parceira", afinal, ambas interpretam heroínas (Jolie interpreta Lara Croft e Milla interpreta Alice) e portanto não vê motivos para exister uma rivalidade.

THE FILM EXPERIENCE
Best Actress Predictions - October 13thDespite mixed reviews for the film thus far, Changeling is such a Baity film-carrying role that Angelina still seems likely. At the very least there's at least 10 Oscar clips for them to choose from. With what looks like 8 competitive performances/films/actresses in the mix, a lot will depend, sadly, on the NBR and BFCA to make the first omission and trip a few women up. Pray that they're more discerning and less "trying to predict Oscar" than usual. The Golden Globes will have room for almost all of the women.
Golden Globe (Musical or Comedy): Hathaway and Hawkins are slam dunks here. But it'll be interesting to see how they fill the remainder of the category.
Golden Globe (Drama): Streep, Scott-Thomas, Winslet, Jolie and Kidman. That race seems clear enough (so far). Since the GG voters love stardom Melissa Leo will have real trouble finding her way into that shortlist.Who is headed for a stumble? How much trouble is Kate's double dipping going to cause her (Not everyone --including Winslet -- is happy about The Reader opening when Revolutionary Road is) And can Melissa Leo continue the trend of an early bird arrival making it to the final five in this particular category.
I currently have Hawkins as the major omission. I suspect she's in. I just can't figure out which bigger star they'll snub when it gets down to the wire.

It’s been a while since I’ve committed to a long-form review, and for that, I have to apologize. Short Takes here and there don’t exactly cut it, but we’ve certainly stayed afloat in this light with Guy’s wonderful work across the pond. I don’t get a chance to sit down and hammer out some thoughts very often, and I’m hoping that will change in the coming weeks.Two films that jumped out this week, however, demanded some attention. The first is Matteo Garrone’s “Gomorrah,” which I saw recently in preparation for the AFI Fest. The film was well-received at Cannes and has become Italy’s entry in the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar race.
I have to say, I’m in agreement with Guy’s assessment for the most part. Garrone’s patch-work narrative might seem trite and even trendy at first mention, but the menagerie works because it isn’t pretentious. There is no sense of contrivance or expressed intent to make these five separate narratives comment toward one another or intersect in a nifty manner.
The assemblage is borderline slap-dash and is more impactful as a result. In a sense, Garrone has cooked up five tense, detailed short films and simply sifted them together. All roads lead to nowhere, and a list of sobering Comorra facts at the end of the film really sticks with the viewer — especially that last doosey.

The most arresting of the yarns is probably the tale of two doofuses, a pair of cocksure misfits that get what’s coming to them and stand as poster children for keeping your nose clean, among other more shaded intricacies. But I was most moved by Gianfelice Imparato’s work as a gun-runner losing himself in the haze of gunfire and excelerated violence in the Comorra.
Garrone and company have done a fine job drawing a lot of valuable concentrate from Roberto Saviano’s book and could do well to be recognized for their work on the page. But I won’t hold my breath. Check out Guy’s review of the film here.
Meanwhile, Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling,” which I saw Tuesday night, isn’t the superior effort a viewer would come to expect after the filmmaker’s streak of critically acclaimed films, but it is hardly deserving of serious discontent either.
In true Eastwood fashion, the narrative is pared down to an essence but includes a few too many scenes; the film could do with a 15-minute shave. But Angelina Jolie’s performance as a woman left childless, and eventually, helpless (as a result of an incompetent Los Angeles Police Department), never boils over when it threatens to do so.
Eastwood, meanwhile, conjures a 1920s Los Angeles that comes across as fascinating fantasty. This is the L.A. once dominated by the red car trolleys, a time before Detroit and Akron got its hands on this vast playground to test mass automobile transit. Eastwood’s cinematographer of choice, Tom Stern, captures the scenery in expressive hues and interesting composition, quite possibly making for his finest work to date.
J. Michael Straczynski’s screenplay is simplistic and really moves, but doesn’t seem to be the work of the same man who has become best-known for his work in sci-fi television and comic book publishing. Jason Butler Harner and Eddie Anderson are perhaps a bit unbelievable and at times trying in their performances as major players in the film’s second act, but they never sink the ship and serve their purposes well enough, despite performing in a few of the scenes that might have been better left out of the film.
On the whole, I wouldn’t call “Changeling” a sure-fire awards contender outside of the ubiquitous Jolie and her often-discussed performance, but I would say that any overly intense criticism of the film is probably hyperbole. Not that anyone has to share my view of things, but I’d say Eastwood has been vastly overrated for the better part of five years. A number of his films in this stretch have been lacking the substance they’ve been championed for, even his most intriguing effort of the bunch, “Letters from Iwo Jima.”
With that in mind, I’d call “Changeling” his greatest success since “The Bridges of Madison County” 13 years ago. It isn’t because it is an earth-shattering achievement. It’s because it stays on track and is more fully realized than the bulk of his critically acclaimed but merely passable, in one case wretched (ahem — “Million Dollar Baby”), filmmaking output over his recent hot streak.

Will Heath Ledger muscle into a crowded lead actor field?

Add another one to the list. It looks like Thelma Adams has joined Pete Howell in predicting Heath Ledger for a lead actor nomination in WB’s “The Dark Knight.” We first mentioned this idea in back in June, before the film landed in cinemas, and it has slowly snowballed into a possibility for a couple of pundits.It really depends on what Warner Bros. decides to do with the performance, however. But if the studio tries its hand in the lead category, I really don’t think it will matter. The guy is getting a nomination.
I hate to “go there” with the first concentrated Bat-talk in a month or so (you know, since some of our more bizarre readers can’t handle talking about comic books in a serious discussion). But it’s worth talking about at this point. WB hasn’t declared a strategy, hasn’t launched an awards site, hasn’t shown its cards at all really, other than to announce a January re-release for the film aimed at securing last minue Oscar goodwill. And, of course, the Academy will decide for themselves which category Ledger belongs in.
Conventional wisdom dictates that Ledger would have a much less turbulent ride to a nod in the supporting category, with a traditionally weaker field and less opportunity for Academy members to balk at the notion of a comic book portrayal sliding in. But if you ask me, this is the performance of the year — and not just because I say so, of course. Ledger’s Joker has inched toward infamy, become a pop culture staple and earned its place alongside the greatest of screen villainy. You’ll see his guise all over the country in 17 days. His chances at a lead nomination are as good as they are in supporting, because at the end of the day, whatever the campaign, his is the most talked-about portrayal of 2008.
I don’t think there are too many people who would questiont that. The only variable has been where Ledger can win the award, and you’ll get no argument here that the supporting category is an easier path. But then again, is it? The supporting actor hopefuls have slowly congealed into five solid contenders, at least two of them sporting the scenery-chewing chops that could dilute Ledger’s work ever-so-slightly in the field. Maybe it isn’t a walk-away there, any more than it would be in lead. So why not go for the gusto?
It’s all very timely at the moment, seeing as Warner Bros. has lost a dog in the race as of this weekend. Until “Gran Torino” suddenly sneaks up on all of us, “The Dark Knight” is the studio’s awards season hopeful. But we’re just spit-balling for now. More than likely we will come across an FYC ad or an awards site and Ledger will be listed in the supporting category as expected.
But don’t be surprised. Don’t be surprised.

Producer Confirms Angelina Jolie for Spy Caper 'Salt'
Monday, October 13, 2008 at 12:11AM If you're waiting for something official on the spy movie Salt, here it is: Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed a couple things when talking to MTV. We now know, for example, that Angelina Jolie is definitely in.
“[Jolie] is the first person cast, and she is the most important person to be cast, too. It’s going to be a very exciting film, Phillip Noyce is directing it, and we are going to start in February." He exlaimed, "It’s a big spy movie on a big canvas with a lot of attitude.”The film centers on an American CIA agent suspected of being a Russian operative with designs on assassinating the president. It's a bit of North by Northwest, don't you think - mistaken identity, national security, and all that? Still, it's an intriguing prospect which became even more noteworthy when reports swirled this summer that Tom Cruise, originally believed to star as Edwin A. Salt (also the film's original title), was out and that Angelina was in, meaning a few changes in the script, at least where the title and personal pronouns were concerned.Di Bonaventura understands the comparisons to Angelina's spy in Smith, but cautions that the movies are very different. “This film is much more serious and about real jeopardy. How are we going to get out of this? Who is who? And all the great things you love in an intense spy movie. This has it, and a lot more attitude on top of it.”The producer also hints that Salt might be ready by late 2009 or early 2010, and that we'll get more casting announcements in the months ahead. -

Falar mal da Jolie, dizer que ela é "pipoca" já virou clichê. De Sr. & Sra. Smith até O Procurado (2 filmes extremamente comerciais) três anos se passaram. Neste intervalo ela esteve em O Bom Pastor, O Preço da Coragem e A Lenda de Beowulf nenhum deles é filme pipoca. Ela é uma atriz popular desde que aceitou interpretar Lara Croft em 2000, após seu merecido Oscar por Garota, Interrompida, desde então sofre preconceito. Tem muita atriz respeitada pela crítica que adoraria estar em filmes mais comerciais, algumas até tentaram e o resultado não foi o esperado, não trouxe a elas mais popularidade.
