Enquanto isso "Gabriel e a Montanha" fazendo maior sucesso na Europa... 9 films advance in the race: Chile, “A Fantastic Woman,” Sebastián Lelio, director Germany, “In the Fade,” Fatih Akin, director Hungary, “On Body and Soul,” Ildikó Enyedi, director Israel, “Foxtrot,” Samuel Maoz, director Lebanon, “The Insult,” Ziad Doueiri, director Russia, “Loveless,” Andrey Zvyagintsev, director Senegal, “Félicité,” Alain Gomis, director South Africa, “The Wound,” John Trengove, director Sweden, “The Square,” Ruben Östlund, director A surpresa ficou para o não avanço do Camboja e da França.

O mais chocante é a lista de Melhor Elenco, com a exclusão de "The Shape of Water" e "Call me By Your Name".

"All the Money In The World" é a surpresa mais evidente. Triste por "The Big Sick" e "The Florida Project".
