Aguirre, Wrath of God Blu-ray Posted April 10, 2013 05:27 PM by Webmaster The British Film Institute has revealed that it plans to release a Dual Format edition of Werner Herzog's Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes a.k.a Aguirre, Wrath of God (1972), starring Klaus Kinski, Ruy Guerra, Allejandro Repulles, and Helena Rojo. A preliminary release date is yet to be revealed. The Dual Format edition will part of BFI's upcoming Werner Herzog Collection. In the mid-16th century, after annihilating the Incan empire, Gonzalo Pizarro (Repulles) leads his army of conquistadors over the Andes into the heart of the most savage environment on earth in search of the fabled City of Gold, El Dorado. As the soldiers battle starvation, Indians, the forces of nature, and each other, Don Lope de Aguirre (Kinski) "The Wrath Of God," is consumed with visions of conquering all of South America and revolts, leading his own army down a treacherous river on a doomed quest into oblivion. Featuring a seething, controlled performance from Kinski, this masterpiece from director Werner Herzog is an unforgettable portrait of madness and power.

The Wicker Man SteelBook Coming Up Posted April 5, 2013 05:14 PM by Webmaster StudioCanal has revealed that it plans to release on Blu-ray Robin Hardy's classic film The Wicker Man (1973), starring Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee, and Diane Cilento. According to early reports, in addition to the standard Blu-ray release a Limited Edition SteelBook will also be available for purchase exclusively through UK retailer Zavvi. Technical specs and supplemental features to be included with this upcoming release are yet to be revealed, but the preliminary release date set by StudioCanal is October 14th. Cult horror classic in which a devout Christian policeman (Woodward) is summoned to a remote Scottish island to investigate the disappearance of a child. While there he uncovers a bizarre pagan cult, led by Lord Summerisle (Lee). As preparations for a sinister ritual celebration reach fever pitch, the policeman begins to realise what role the islanders intend him to play. Britt Ekland and Ingrid Pitt co-star.
