Onde vc comprou?

O filme é ótimo e alguns anos atrás comprei o 'dvd pelado' porque possui a versão estendida do filme. Espero que esta edição seja idêntica a americana e em se tratando da Buena Vista os comentários serão legendados.

Como não encontrei o tópico "Sessão Tortura" vou postar aqui:

Title: War Of The Worlds Emergency Box
Starring: Tom Cruise
Released: 22nd December 2005
SRP: Approximately $380 USD

Further Details
It is not like the Japanese to put up with a standard DVD release when it is possible to have the full works - Limited Edition style. Here we have the War of the Worlds Emergency Box which retails for close to a staggering $400 USD. It appears to be a 2 DVD set with other movie memorabilia. As well as the DVD it looks to contain the presentation stand, a radio, gloves and what looks to be a torch. Apparently quite solid, our friends at YesAsia (direct link to product in new window) currently have the shipping weight listed as 10 kilograms however this might change closer to launch once more is known.

BEN-HUR FOUR-DISC COLLECTOR'S EDITION
By Ed Hulse  9/12/2005

BenHur.jpgHIT: The remastering from super-sharp 65mm elements corrects flaws in earlier
transfers.
MISS: Although Charlton Heston's contributions to the commentary track are scene specific, there are too few to suit us.

William Wyler's 1959 version of the Biblical-era novel written by Lew Wallace was not only a box-office blockbuster but also a critically acclaimed triumph that won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director--a feat duplicated only recently by The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. This Collector's Edition is no less an accomplishment in the DVD field; it packs into four discs more than 10 hours of bonus material, including the spectacular 1926 version directed by Fred Niblo. Two hour-long documentaries, one from 1993 and the other produced recently, provide a wealth of background information and on-camera interviews with now-deceased participants, including Wyler and second-unit director Yakima Canutt, who staged the famous chariot-race sequence. Ailing star Charlton Heston is represented--both on camera and on the commentary track--by interviews done some years ago, before he began exhibiting symptoms of Alzheimer's. In newer documentary "The Epic That Changed Cinema," produced and directed by Gary Leva, filmmakers George Lucas and Ridley Scott are joined by a host of technicians and historians to pay tribute to Wyler's achievement. Their praise seems heartfelt, if not entirely accurate. (It's disconcerting to hear cinematographer Ernest Dickerson call the 1959 version "the first big epic" and film editor Joel Cox assert that its chariot race was "probably the beginning of racing stuff in films.") No such gaffes mar "The Making of an Epic," which producer/director Scott Benson made for the 1993 laserdisc release and which was included on the earlier DVD version. Other extras from earlier video incarnations include a separate track for Miklos Rozsa's fabulous musical score, a group of screen tests and highlights from the 1960 Academy Awards ceremony. Although the previous DVD looked pretty darn good, this one is even better because the film has been remastered from the original 65mm film elements. And the 1926 version is super as well, thanks to careful restoration and an evocative Carl Davis score.

PRETTY WOMAN 15TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION
By Ed Hulse  8/15/2005

PRETTYwoman.jpgHIT: Despite its unevenness, Marshall's new commentary is the best thing about the extras package.
MISS: Would have been nice to have included some new interviews with Gere and Roberts, reflecting on a film that was important to their careers.

Julia Roberts became a superstar as a result of her happy hooker portrayal in this wildly improbable but nonetheless endearing 1990 mega-hit directed by Garry Marshall. Already released in two DVD versions, Pretty Woman makes a third go-around in this 15th anniversary special edition, which sports a new commentary by Marshall and some minor extras not found on the previous discs. Among these are two and a half minutes of bloopers (of poor visual quality) and four minutes of video footage taken at the wrap party, where Richard Gere, Roberts and Marshall perform an Elvis Costello song. A marginally interesting new extra is a tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills landmarks shot by Marshall, who supplies a faux-enthusiastic commentary ("Lookit dis! Da Bevalee Wilsha hotel!"). The original 1990 making-of featurette includes the usual promotional clips now seen on Entertainment Tonight, E! and other entertainment shows. Brought back from the previous DVD release are the film's original trailer and the Natalie Cole music video for "Wild Women Do," which incorporates footage from the movie. Marshall's commentary is the only significant addition to this not-so-special special edition, and his remarks range from humorously pithy to tediously bizarre. He thinks we should be interested to know that an opulent Hollywood Hills home, used for the film's opening party sequence, did not wash away during Southern California's recent spate of heavy rain. He also refers to the scenes that took place inside cars as "the root canal of filmmaking" but doesn't explain why he feels that way. Some of Marshall's throwaway lines are entertaining--such as his declaration that the studio was squeamish about the film's working girls being described on-screen as prostitutes--but at times he sounds bored, and his delivery occasionally comes across as rather arch.

THE ASTAIRE AND ROGERS COLLECTION: VOL. ONE
By Ed Hulse  8/11/2005

BarkleysofBroadway.jpgHIT: The featurettes present a number of Astaire-Rogers experts, plus Fred's daughter Ava Astaire McKenzie, offering tidbits about the film's productions and reflections on their legacy.
MISS: Archival footage of Astaire-Rogers producer Pandro Berman and Fred's right-hand man, choreographer Hermes Pan, appears in the featurettes, but there's not a single bit of interview footage of Fred or Ginger.

When one considers that the earliest film in this set, Top Hat, turns 70 this year, it's no wonder that certain aspects of the movies--the jokes, plot lines, characterizations--seem a bit rusty. The songs that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers introduced, however, are among the best romantic tunes ever written: "Cheek to Cheek," "The Way You Look Tonight" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me." And the dance numbers, well, they're the reason why these films are still being watched, almost three-quarters of a century later. This set contains five of the 10 features costarring Astaire and Rogers, and the lion's share of their timeless tunes from the likes of the Gershwins, Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields and Irving Berlin. As has been the case with Warner's past Golden Age box sets, the movies are each supplemented by a live-action short and a cartoon. Of central interest to fans are three audio commentaries handled by Astaire's daughter, Ava Astaire McKenzie, and various Astaire-Rogers experts. Deserving special mention is author John Mueller, who seems to have committed every frame of Swing Time to memory; he perfectly paces his detailed remarks about the film so that he can introduce incidents mere seconds before they appear on screen. The five featurettes produced by Summerland Pictures to accompany the movies present the same author experts, McKenzie and other such dedicated fans as Michael Feinstein, who offers interesting tidbits about the productions, the reunion of the team in The Barkleys of Broadway and Astaire's singular devotion to his craft. In addition, those daring souls who'd like to duplicate Astaire and Rogers' fancy footwork are given a few tips from Broadway dancers and choreographers. The docs remind us of just how special these dance musicals are, but there's really no substitute for watching (and rewatching) them for a hint of how easily Astaire and Rogers came to personify the concepts of elegance and style.

"Menina de Ouro" Terá Edição Especial Para Venda Direta. (19/09/2005)

reg4sc.gif

capa_meninadeouro_sellthru_r4.jpg
