  1. Hugh tb se decepcionou com o primeiro Wolverine: Hugh Jackman on first 'Wolverine': 'We could have done better'by Adam Markovitz Tags: Hugh Jackman, Movies, Must List, The Wolverine, X-Men Comments 21 Add comment Image Credit: Ben Rothstein When The Wolverine hits theaters July 26, Hugh Jackman’s claw-slinging hero will face a slew of deadly new enemies like the Silver Samurai and Viper. But his biggest foe might just be himself — or at least, the specter of 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which grossed an impressive $373 million worldwide but disappointed fans with its tangled storyline and cheesy FX. Even Jackman admits the movie fell short of his expectations. “I had something to prove, and we could have done better,” the actor told EW in an interview for the cover story of the annualMust List issue (on stands now). “Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men — just with different characters. I left unsure if we’d achieved our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character.” But Jackman is hopeful that The Wolverine, helmed by James Mangold (Walk the Line) with a script that delves into a fan-favorite storyline set in Japan, can rescue Logan’s big-screen reputation. “This movie will really get to his core,” he says. “So… Fingers crossed that we’ve done it this time. I’m pretty confident we have.” For more of EW’s interview with Hugh Jackman and the makers of The Wolverine, check out this week’s issue, on stands now. Matéria da Entertainment Weekly.
  2. Matéria da People: Jean Stapleton Dies at 90By STEPHEN M. SILVERMAN 06/01/2013 at 05:00 PM EDT Facebook Tweet 136Comments Jean Stapleton GETTY Subscribe to PEOPLE Magazine GET IT NOW Jean Stapleton, the versatile actress who will forever be remembered for her long-running role as the dim-witted but deep-hearted Edith Bunker on the groundbreaking 1970s sitcom All in the Family, died Friday at her home in New York City, her family confirms. Stapleton, who was 90, succumbed to natural causes. Having already established a career during the 1950s and early '60s for playing nosy neighbor roles in such Broadway smashes as Damn Yankees, Funny Girl and Bells Are Ringing, in which she played the owner of the titular answering service, Stapleton entered the TV pantheon with her high-pitched comic voice (which was a gross exaggeration of her own), perfect timing (especially when Edith would be slow to catch on to something) and unrelenting love for her husband Archie Bunker (even while overlooking his bigotry, which she never shared). "The civil rights issue went right through our series ... That was marvelous stuff," Stapleton, touching upon All in the Family's timeliness, said a few years ago in an interview with the Archive of American Television. "There's nothing like humor to burst what seems to be an enormous problem. Humor reduces it to nothing and wipes it out. That's what humor does. That was a great part of that show in terms of every issue." With her highly quotable malapropisms – Edith thought VD stood for Veterans' Day – and dogged devotion to the impossible Archie, Edith Bunker was not only hilariously funny, but compassionate and deeply affecting – facing such (for primetime TV) breakthrough issues of her day as breast cancer, menopause and sexual assault. Winning three Emmys for the role, Stapleton played Edith to Carroll O'Conner's Archie from 1971-79, then asked to be written out of the show as the series continued under slightly different formats. Instinctive as Edith may have been, she was nothing like the well-educated, well-spoken Stapleton, who was born Jeanne Murray in New York City, the daughter of outdoor advertising salesman Joseph E. Murray and concert singer Marie Stapleton Murray. While attending Hunter College she made her acting debut in summer stock at age 18 before graduating to Off Broadway and Broadway (she repeated her stage roles in the movie adaptations of Damn Yankees and Bells Are Ringing) and eventually parts on early TV dramas and comedy shows. It was also during the stage run of Bells Are Ringing, in 1957, that Stapleton met and married William Putch, a concert promoter who also ran the 453-seat Totem Pole Playhouse summer stock theater in Pennsylvania – where, for the next quarter century, even at the height of her TV stardom, Stapleton would appear. Controversial ComedyAs Stapleton was shooting a character role for producer Norman Lear's 1971 movie comedyCold Turkey, about a Midwestern town whose entire population tries to give up smoking, Lear was attempting to sell his adaptation of the British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part to one of the American TV networks. The domestic version was to be set in New York City's blue-collar borough of Queens and called All in the Family. Finally, CBS put it on the air, and the one-time character actress became a leading lady – and a household name. The show's ratings shot to No. 1, though the series itself was seldom without controversy over the issues it tackled and the in-your-face manner in which they were presented. Stapleton not only embraced the controversy, but lent herself to the social issues, becoming, for instance, a vocal proponent of the Equal Rights Amendment. Once she left All in the Family she continued to make TV appearances, such as when in 1996, as if to counteract her trod-upon Edith persona, she played the imperious sister of Doris Roberts's character on Everybody Loves Raymond. She also appeared in the movies Michael and You've Got Mail, and returned to her stage roots, touring in a critically acclaimed one-woman show about Eleanor Roosevelt – a real-life role she had also played in the 1982 CBS movie Eleanor: First Lady of the World. Bill Putsch, with whom Stapleton had two children, Pam and John, died in 1983. While Stapleton told PEOPLE at the time that she was unable to talk about her grief, she did say, "I am going about my life one day at a time." And she did just that, continuing to act until her retirement and remaining, to this very day, one of everybody's favorite TV relatives. Doctor Who

Who' After four years in the iconic role, BBC announces he will be exiting the sci-fi series BBC Published: June 01, 2013 @ 3:10 pm Matt Smith is leaving the "Doctor Who" universe after four years. BBC and BBC America announced the exit on Saturday. In 2010, the 30-year-old actor was the 11th person to assume the iconic role. He willl be appearing in November's much-anticipated 50th anniversary episode and officially leaving the role (or "regenerating" as the series calls the handoff to a new Doctor) during the annual Christmas special. Also read: 'Doctor Who' Premiere Sets Ratings Record for BBC America Read Smith's statement on his departure below: '"Doctor Who' has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show. I'm incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realize all the elements of the show and deliver 'Doctor Who' to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years." Having Steven Moffat as showrunner write such varied, funny, mind-bending and brilliant scripts has been one of the greatest and most rewarding challenges of my career. It's been a privilege and a treat to work with Steven, he's a good friend and will continue to shape a brilliant world for the Doctor. The fans of 'Doctor Who' around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I've never seen before, your dedication is truly remarkable. Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number Eleven, who I might add is not done yet, I'm back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special! It's been an honor to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the TARDIS for a spell with 'the ginger, the nose and the impossible one'. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys. Matt." Also read: BBC America Renews 'Orphan Black' for Season 2 Smith has been heralded as one the most popular Doctors of the franchise. He was the first to be nominated for a BAFTA for the role. He also won the Most Popular Male Drama Performance at Britain's National Television Awards last year. Showrunner Steven Moffat released the following statement on Smith's departure: "Every day, on every episode, in every set of rushes, Matt Smith surprised me: the way he'd turn a line, or spin on his heels, or make something funny, or out of nowhere make me cry, I just never knew what was coming next. The Doctor can be clown and hero, often at the same time, and Matt rose to both challenges magnificently. And even better than that, given the pressures of this extraordinary show, he is one of the nicest and hardest-working people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Whatever we threw at him - sometimes literally - his behavior was always worthy of the Doctor. But great actors always know when it's time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break, as we say goodbye to number Eleven. Thank you Matt - bow ties were never cooler. Of course, this isn't the end of the story, because now the search begins. Somewhere out there right now - all unknowing, just going about their business - is someone who's about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and Doctor Who will be born all over again! After 50 years, that's still so exciting!" Under Moffat's watch, Smith, the youngest actor to play the character, starred alongside three different companions: Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) and this past season's Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman). 4.

    The Americans

  14. Ah, meu Deus, confirmem isso! Dan Harmon Just Tweet-confirmed His Return toCommunity, We Think by Tim Surette48 minutes ago 3 5 FAVORITE 15COMMENTS "Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back!" And with those words, it may be Dan Harmon to the rescue for one of network's best internet-age comedies. Nothing's been made official, but it appears that Harmon is returning to Community after a year off. Here's what he tweeted early Saturday morning: Britta got in on the action, too, welcoming back her boss: Harmon's tweet came after a sequence of other Community-related tweets from Harmon discussing "deal breakers" for his return to the NBC show, so it's reasonable to assume that he was staying on topic and the "I'm back" referred to Community. Yes, this is merry little prankster Harmon, but given the attention swirling his return, I'm inclined to think this is the real deal. I should also note that Chris McKenna, the executive producer who wrote "Remedial Chaos Theory" and "Paradigms of Human Memory" but left after Season 3, is also rumored to be returning. However, we still have the pesky "this is unofficial" obstacle to surmount before we can really break out the fruit punch. I know I wrote that he shouldn't come back that he as a "gently go f*ck thyself" toCommunity's production studio Sony TV who, in my opinion, made a terrible and unjust decisionto fire him in the first place. But now I'm glad he didn't take my advice, because I can't deny my excitement to have the salty sea captain steering the S.S. Community right through the icebergs of conformity once again. Either Harmon doesn't hold grudges like I do, he's eager to prove himself as the man, or the show's cast—Harmon specifically singled out Joel McHale as someone fans should thank for his return—convinced him to come back. Whatever the case, we're all winners. Now the question is, "Can Dan Harmon return Community to the high quality of its first three seasons?" The answer, as Britta would say, is "Duh-doi!" Dan Harmon vai voltar, olê olê olá! Do TV.com.

    Hannibal

  17. Mais uma do The Playlist: Paul Thomas Anderson Has Found His Shasta For 'Inherent Vice' NEWSBY KEVIN JAGERNAUTH MAIO 30, 2013 9:55 PM With cameras now rolling on Paul Thomas Anderson's next movie, the Thomas Pynchon adaptation "Inherent Vice," the cast continues to grow and one of the key lead characters has been found, but it's not any A-list name. Deadline reports that rising actress Katherine Waterston -- yes, daughter of Sam Waterston -- has booked the part of Shasta in the film. But she's not exactly inexperienced. So far, her resumé is peppered with work alongside acclaimed filmmakers like Tony Gilroy ("Michael Clayton") and Ang Lee ("Taking Woodstock"), and she's got a role in Kelly Reichardt's next picture, "Night Moves." But, she's never worked with a cast like this that includes Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Martin Short, Jena Malone and Kevin J. O'Connor with Sean Penn possibly maybe joining as well. Set in 1970s Los Angeles, the story follows inept, pot-smoking private detective Doc Sportello as he investigates the case of a kidnapped girl (Shasta), who also happens to be one of his ex-girlfriends. Warner Bros. is behind this one, and it's already on our Must See list for 2014.
  18. Pra fazer a ligação com o tal spin-off feminino? Milla Jovovich Is Joining The Boys In 'Expendables 3' NEWSBY KEVIN JAGERNAUTH MAIO 31, 2013 12:24 PM It looks like the old dudes of "The Expendables" are going to get an energetic boost of estrogen to add to their ranks when they grease up their joints for yet another bland action outing. And it's someone who has more than her fair share of experience kicking ass. Milla Jovovich is in advanced negotiations along with the long rumored and talked about Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage for "The Expendables 3." Of course, Jovovich has her own mega successful franchise with "Resident Evil," and will more than hold her own along these dudes when it comes to jumping off things, shooting stuff and running away from explosions. And her insurance probably doesn't cost as much. And it's a savvy move, opening up the potential audience for his even further, given the actress' appeal overseas as well. So smart play, Stallone. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast is your standard roster of Olds, though perhaps the recently released Snipes and Cage -- jesus, the two of them on the same set together? -- will bring some unpredictability this series needs. Or perhaps it will just be another 1980s homage that doesn't realize most of those action movies from the era were awful then and are still awful now. Production gets underway later this summer and you'll see it in theaters next year. Matéria do The Playlist.
