Empresário dá bronca em Lindsay Lohan por revelação de doença

 

Segundo o programa de rádio latino America Showbiz,

o empresário Tommy Mottola deu um puxão de orelhas em sua protegida

Lindsay Lohan, por ela ter revelado que sofria de bulimia e com as

drogas.

Mottola, proprietário da Casablanca Records,

gravadora de Lindsay, se zangou com a jovem de 19 anos, por ela não ter

lhe avisado sobre suas polêmicas declarações à revista Vanity Fair.

De

acordo com o noticiário, o marido da cantora Thalia ainda tentou evitar

que a publicação divulgasse a entrevista que chegará às bancas em

fevereiro próximo, mas nada conseguiu.

said, "Send it over because, babysitting I think is like $12.00 an

hour. And they will take advantage of you for like $15.00." Cruise will

Hopkins To Quit After Shakespeare Role?

 

 

 

Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins may be planning to quit acting after starring in William Shakespeare's tragedy King Lear.

Hopkins has played the aging British king in the theatre and admits he

wasn't completely happy with his performance and would like the chance

to play Lear again on the silver screen. He tells Total Film magazine,

"(I played Lear before) badly... no, it was OK. But I want do to Lear,

then maybe say, 'Adios.' I want to see what I've got left in me. Make

sure I had a good go at it. I know somebody that's interested in

producing it, one of the money guys at Miramax. I think it would be

interesting to go back to the old traditional thing of setting it in

Denmark or a craggy area of Britain, shoot it near the coasts in

winter, set it in the dark ages."

Renfro Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charge

 

 

 

 

Actor Brad Renfro

entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of attempted felony drug

possession after a brief appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom

yesterday morning. Renfro was arrested last month after allegedly

trying to buy heroin from undercover officers during a sting operation

in the 'skid row' section of Los Angeles. The Apt Pupil

star has been free on bail since his arrest in December and is

currently in a drug treatment program, according to his lawyer. Renfro

Academy Award-winning actress Holly Hunter has given birth to twins, her first children with actor partner Gordon MacDonald.

night. It was 85-year-old Winters' fourth marriage and DeFord's first.

Neverland ranch, by federal officials. Animal rights group People for

the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) made a formal complaint against

the star to the US Department of Agriculture after being enraged by

photographs purporting to show animals including giraffes, elephants,

orangutans and flamingoes living in cramped squalor. However, the

subsequent government inspection found animals at Jackson's California

home were being adequately cared for. Brian Oxman, one of Jackson's

lawyers, says of the findings, "That's very nice, and we appreciate

it." PETA spokeswoman Lisa Wathne defended the group's decision to

report the Thriller

hitmaker saying: "Because Neverland is not open to the public, it's

very difficult to get information about the place. But when we hear

accusations like that, and many accusations, we have to take note." The

47-year-old singer effectively abandoned the estate to live in the

Persian Gulf nation of Bahrain after being acquitted of child

a closet caused controversy when broadcast in the US. The cartoon

Kidman tells Cruise, "Don't you think this has gone on long enough?

It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling

anyone." - referring to allegations about Cruise's sexuality. According

to TheRegister.co.uk, Paramount has agreed not to show the episode

again, after Cruise complained. A source tells the site, "Tom is

famously very litigious and will go to great lengths to protect his

reputation. Tom was said not to like the episode and Paramount just

didn't dare risk showing it again. It's a shame that UK audiences will

may be set to join Hollywood's adoptive mothers after reportedly

signing up to play mother to a Chinese baby. The actress will take

charge of a Chinese baby later today, according to America's OK!

celebrity magazine. Sources claim the When Harry Met Sally

star has spent months chasing her dream of becoming a mum for the

second time and heard the news she had been approved late last year.

The adoption is scheduled to take place at an American consulate in

China, according to OK! sources. An insider tells the publication, "The

consulate will formalize the adoption and grant Meg's new daughter a

visa and a social security number. They will probably be flying back to

the US immediately after the process is complete." Ryan has a teenage

son, Jack, by former husband Dennis Quaid. Other Hollywood stars who have discovered the thrill of adoption include Angelina Jolie, Diane Keaton, Sharon Stone and Nicole Kidman.

 

 

 

Hilton Looks Dumb on Deposition

 

 

 

 

Paris Hilton's

intellect is in question after one internet news site obtained a copy

of the socialite's deposition in connection with a defamation lawsuit

filed last year. Zeta Graff,

the ex-girlfriend of Hilton's former boyfriend Paris Latsis, claimed

Hilton planted lies about her in New York Post gossip column Page Six

and filed for extensive damages. According to Graff's suit, Hilton

fabricated a fight she had with the diamond heiress at a London club in

the article, claiming Graff went "berserk" and allegedly attacked her.

Red-faced Hilton has since admitted the incident never took place, but

has denied planting the story in the Post. But Hilton's embarrassment

over the whole scandal has only just begun - thanks to comments she

made in her deposition, which have been picked up by website Tmz.com.

Asked, by Graff's lawyer, if she was aware that UK tabloids had picked

up the story from the Post, Hilton responds "No... there is stuff in

London," at which point her own attorney, Larry Klein, points out,

"London is a UK publication." Hilton then retorts, "Right. UK.

Whatever." And in another Graff gaffe, Hilton has an inappropriate dig

at her accuser, stating, "She is old and should stay at home with her

child, instead of being at night clubs with young people... She is not

cute at all." In yet another ill-advised comment, Hilton talks about

her European travels, stating, "I was in Europe the whole summer, and

all there is like French... I didn't see anything because I wasn't in

baby has been removed from auction website eBay.com. The item, listed

as 'Angelina Jolie's 4-5 month fetus sonogram picture,' was pulled

after eBay bosses decided it "violated their policy on celebrity

materials." The unlikely item generated over 50 bids in two days,

reaching $500 minutes before the online auction was closed. Spokesman

Hani Durzy says, "We have pulled it off the site. This listing was

being marketed as coming specifically from Angelina Jolie.

There was no indication in the listing that she had given agreement to

this. We took a look at it pretty quickly and felt it violated our

policy on celebrity materials."

British acting legend Christopher Lee

has slammed Hollywood's obsession with youth, insisting the employment

of beautiful but talentless teenagers is sabotaging modern movies. The Star Wars

veteran, 83, is appalled by producers' willingness to cast young stars

in emotionally-complex roles, and insists a backlash is on the horizon.

And he fears for the reputations of young stars, condemning Los Angeles

studios for pushing their protege's too far. He says, "The problem

today, and I think it's a very dangerous one for the people concerned,

is that there are quite large numbers of very young men and women from

18 to 30, and they are playing very large parts in huge films and they

simply, through no fault of their own, don't have the background and

the experience and the knowledge to pull if off. And it's dangerous for

them because if they are in one failure after another, sooner or later

people are going to say, 'Well, he may have a pretty face but he's not

bringing the public in.' So many of these good-looking - sometimes even

pretty - boys and girls are getting these good roles and it's not fair

on them. At some point it's going to catch up."

 

 

 

Wilson Pickett Dies

 

 

 

 

Legendary soul singer Wilson Pickett

died yesterday after suffering a heart attack. He was 64. Pickett, who

had been in ill health over the last year, passed away in a Virginia

hospital close to his home. He is best known for his hits "Mustang

Sally" and "In The Midnight Hour." Born in Pratville, Alabama, Pickett

found fame as a teenager in the 1960s after joining The Falcons. He

sang on their number one single "I Found A Love." After signing a solo

deal with Atlantic Records, Pickett wrote the classic track "In The

Midnight Hour" with guitar great Steve Cropper,

which was released in 1965. Hits including "Mustang Sally," "Funky

Broadway," "Land Of 1,000 Dances" and "She's Looking Good" followed. In

total, Pickett scored five number one US R&B singles. In 1991,

Pickett was frequently name-checked and had his music covered in the

movie The Commitments. The same year he was inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. His last studio album, It's Harder Now,

was released in 1999. Pickett will be buried next to his mother in

Louisville, Kentucky. He is survived by his fiance and four children.

 

 

 

Garrett's Mother Begs Son To Seek Rehab Help

 

 

 

Fallen pop idol Leif Garrett's

mother is begging her son to seek rehab help after he was busted for

heroin possession in Los Angeles over the weekend. Designer Carolyn Stellar

attended her son's arraignment hearing at the Los Angeles County

Courthouse on Wednesday and told reporters that Garrett's disheveled

look and prison clothing attire made her "sick to my stomach."

HOLLYWOOD - Nicole Kidman will wed country music star Keith Urban in March, according to reports.

The 37-year-old actress, who ended her 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise in August 2001, is planning a lavish ceremony but will only invite close family and friends.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Nicole is getting married in March. She's the happiest she's ever been in her life and she doesn't want a long engagement.

"Keith proposed at Christmas and she was thrilled. They are happy and in love.

"Nicole's only inviting close friends and family—she doesn't want a media circus. They are discussing venues and are talking about doing it in Australia."

Meanwhile, Cruise and his pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes are planning a summer ceremony, following the birth of their first baby together.

HOLLYWOOD - The civil trial over the attempted distribution of actor Colin Farrell's 15-minute sex tape is to take place on July 17.

The date is set a year after Farrell took legal action against his 'co-star' Nicole Narain for allegedly planning to commercially release the raunchy footage.

The video reportedly shows the movie hunk engaging in sex acts with the former Playboy model during their 2003 romance.

A judge also granted the Phone Booth star a restraining order banning the release or commercial exploitation of the tape.

A Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining order to prevent marketing of the tape in August, but a website earlier this month offered viewers a peek at his homemade sex until it was shut down at Farrell's behest.

Kidman Named UN Goodwill Ambassador

 

 

 

Australian actress Nicole Kidman

is set to promote women's rights around the world in her latest role as

a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund (UNIFEM).

The 38-year-old star has fulfilled the same role for the United Nations

Children's Fund (UNICEF) since 1994, but wants to expand her reach and

use her iconic status to empower females everywhere. And the actress is

well respected by the organization; they recently allowed her 2005

movie The Interpreter

to become the first film shot inside New York City's UN building.

Kidman's role will see her promote issues pertaining to gender equality

Joaquin Phoenix sai ileso de acidente em Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, EUA, 27 jan (AFP) - O americano Joaquin Phoenix, ganhador do Globo de Ouro de melhor ator de comédia/musical, sofreu um grave acidente em Hollywood, do qual saiu ileso, informaram fontes policiais nesta sexta-feira.

"É provável que (Phoenix) esteja muito dolorido hoje, mas ele está bem", disse sua agente, Susan Patricola, segundo a imprensa de Los Angeles (Califórnia), que destacou que o ator perdeu o controle de seu carro e bateu em outro veículo em Sunset Bulevard, coração de Hollywood.

Angelina Jolie se diz "envergonhada" com os Estados Unidos

 

DAVOS, Suíça, 27 jan (AFP) - A atriz americana Angelina Jolie, embaixadora do Alto Comissariado das Nações Unidas para os Refugiados, reiterou nesta sexta-feira, em Davos, sua decepção com o fato de os Estados Unidos não terem ratificado a Convenção da ONU sobre os Direitos da Criança.

"Estou absolutamente envergonhada" de ver que os Estados Unidos não ratificaram formalmente esta Convenção, declarou.

Washington assinou a Convenção em 1995, mas não a ratificou, além da Somália, o outro único país a não fazê-lo.

"Como americana, acho que é algo horrível. Acho que o Congresso deveria ratificá-la", afirmou.

"Se nos preocupamos realmente (com as crianças), como nos atrevemos a não fazê-lo?", questionou.

A atriz, de 30 anos, é embaixadora da agência das Nações Unidas há quatro anos e viajou para cerca de 20 países como Camboja, Sri-Lanka e Tailândia.

"As crianças deveriam ter acesso à educação", disse Jolie em entrevista coletiva durante uma mesa redonda no Fórum Econômico Mundial (WEF), celebrado na estação suíça de esqui.

"As pessoas devem ter o direito a buscar asilo, isto é algo que se tornou muito importante para mim", disse.

Angelia Jolie adotou duas crianças, um menino cambojano chamado Maddox e uma menina etíope chamada Zahara. Ela está grávida do ator Brad Pitt, que a acompanha em Davos.

de que o astro mandou excluir cenas de sexo do novo filme de sua noiva,

Katie Holmes.

Thank You For Smoking, sátira

sobre sociedade e indústria do tabaco, que ela protagoniza ao lado de Aaron

Eckhart (Possessão, O pagamento), foi exibido ano passado

no Festival de Toronto, no Canadá - e continha as tais tomadas calientes

entre Kate e Eckhart. Mas quando o filme foi exibido em Sundance, nos dias

20, 21 e 22, não tinha mais.

Procurado pela imprensa para comentar o sumiço,

o diretor do filme, Jason Reitman, respondeu bem-humorado: "Foi

um probleminha técnico". E completou: "Se você quer ver uma cena

no ano passado, já ganhou por sete vezes na pesquisa anual da Quigley

Publishing Co., segundo informou o agente do ator Arnold Robinson.

Tom

Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds e Bing Crosby já ficaram em

primeiro lugar por cinco vezes. A pesquisa da Quigley, realizada todos

os anos desde 1932, pede aos exibidores de filmes que votem nas dez

estrelas que geraram mais dinheiro nas bilheterias.

Johnny Depp ficou em segundo lugar na sondagem de 2005. Angelina Jolie

2 Filhos de Francisco,

que conta a história da dupla sertaneja Zezé de Camargo e Luciano, é o

filme que conseguiu reunir o maior número de expectadores ao ar livre

em uma única sessão, no dia 24, em São Paulo.

 

A fita

foi exibida em cinco telões montados na Estação da Luz (centro), logo

antes de um show da dupla em uma homenagem aos 452 anos da cidade de

São Paulo. Segundo a Polícia Militar, havia cerca de 18 mil pessoas no

loca, mas a organização do evento afirma que mais de 20 mil

compareceram.

 

Depois de assistir ao filme, o público conferiu show Ao Vivo Na Estrada,

que contou com a presença de Wanessa Camargo e a dupla Dablio Moreira e

Marco Henrique - meninos que interpretaram Zezé Di Camargo e Emival no

longa de Breno Silveira.

 

A

exibição ao ar livre deve colocar o nome do filme no livro Guinness

World Records (editado no Brasil pela Ediouro), que registra recordes

ocorridos no mundo inteiro. O recorde anterior registrado pelo livro

era do filme Quinto Elemento, que em 1998 reuniu 10 mil expectadores no Battersea Park, em Londres.

 

Outra

conquista do filme foi ter sido o escolhido para representar o Brasil

na disputa pelo Oscar. As indicações para a premiação norte-americana

serão anunciadas no dia 31 de janeiro e a cerimônia de entrega dos

prêmios ocorre no dia 5 de março.
