O filme "Operação Valquíria", com Tom Cruise no papel de oficial nazista rebelde, ocupou a liderança das bilheterias internacionais pelo segundo fim de semana consecutivo, arrecadando estimados US$ 18,6 milhões em 26 países e elevando seu total acumulado fora da América do Norte para US$ 38,9 milhões. Na Alemanha, onde o filme foi rodado, "Operação Valquíria" rendeu até agora US$ 7,3 milhões - a maior bilheteria de qualquer filme estrangeiro já exibido no país. Tom Cruise está no Brasil com a esposa, Katie Holmes, e a filha do casal para a pré-estreia do filme no mercado brasileiro, nesta terça-feira (3), no Rio de Janeiro O número dois no fim de semana foi "O curioso caso de Benjamin Button", que vendeu US$ 11,5 milhõess em ingressos em 24 países, elevando sua arrecadação internacional para US$ 37,7 milhões. Estrelado por Brad Pitt, o filme é líder em número de indicações para o Oscar este ano, tendo recebido 13, e estreou como líder na Alemanha, Áustria e Suíça. O terceiro filme mais visto fora da América do Norte no fim de semana foi "Foi apenas um sonho", que estreou em 25 mercados novos e vendeu US$ 11 milhões em 44 países. Com três indicações ao Oscar, o filme já arrecadou US$ 26,2 milhões.
